The modified XFEM for solving problems of a phase change with natural convection

open access: yesArchive of Mechanical Engineering, 2023
This paper presents an extended finite element method applied to solve phase change problems taking into account natural convection in the liquid phase. It is assumed that the transition from one state to another, e.g., during the solidification of pure ...

Relationship between Neumann solutions for two-phase Lame-Clapeyron-Stefan problems with convective and temperature boundary conditions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We obtain for the two-phase Lame-Clapeyron-Stefan problem for a semi-infinite material an equivalence between the temperature and convective boundary conditions at the fixed face in the case that an inequality for the convective transfer coefficient is ...

Application of Standard and Refined Heat Balance Integral Methods to One-Dimensional Stefan Problems

open access: yesSIAM Review, 2010
The work in this paper concerns the study of conventional and refined heat balance integral methods for a number of phase change problems. These include standard test problems, both with one and two phase changes, which have exact solutions that enable ...

Electroactive Metal–Organic Frameworks for Electrocatalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Electrocatalysis is crucial in sustainable energy conversion as it enables efficient chemical transformations. The review discusses how metal–organic frameworks can revolutionize this field by offering tailorable structures and active site tunability, enabling efficient and selective electrocatalytic processes.

Two‐Photon 3D Printing of Functional Microstructures Inside Living Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates 3D printing inside living cells by using two‐photon photo‐lithography. A bio‐compatible photoresist is injected into cells and selectively polymerized with a femtosecond laser, creating custom‐shaped intracellular structures with submicron resolution.

2026 Update on the Management of Diffuse Large B‐Cell Lymphoma

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Hematology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Diffuse large B‐cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is the most common type of NHL in the Western Hemisphere. It comprises a heterogenous group of lymphomas, with different biology and clinical prognoses. R‐CHP remains the backbone of therapy, and frontline therapeutic options in fit patients are pola‐R‐CHP and R‐CHOP, whereas elderly or frail/unfit ...

A Stefan problem for composite materials with an arbitrary number of moving phase-transition boundaries

open access: yesUchenye Zapiski Kazanskogo Universiteta. Seriya Fiziko-Matematicheskie Nauki
A Stefan problem of heat transfer in semi-infinite bodies with an arbitrary number of unsteady moving boundaries during phase transitions was solved. Such problems arise when composite materials are heated at high temperatures, causing the binding agents
