Accretion of Stellar Winds in the Galactic Centre

2007
We report a 3-dimensional numerical study of the accretion of stellar winds onto Sgr A*, the super-massive black hole at the centre of our Galaxy. Compared with previous investigations, we allow the stars to be on realistic orbits, include the recently discovered slow wind sources, and allow for optically thin radiative cooling.

Accretion Powered Emission in Young Stellar Objects

2003
We discuss evidence supporting the magnetospheric accretion mode of mass transfer onto the star for a much larger range of masses that previously known, ∼ 0.03M⊙ — ∼ 5M⊙, and show corresponding mass accretion rate determination over this mass range. We find that the mass accretion rate M increases with stellar mass M*, roughly asy M ∝ M * 2 .

Stellar explosions powered by black hole accretion

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2000
The fate of massive (Mms≳25 M⊙) rotating stars for which the Type-II supernova mechanism fails to launch a strong explosion is studied by means of 1D and 2D hydrodynamical simulations. In the extreme case (Mms≳35 M⊙) a collapsar-a rapidly accreting (Ṁ≈0.1 M⊙ s−1) stellar mass black hole at the center of a collapsing star-forms promptly.
