Ensemble Learning for Stellar Classification and Radius Estimation from Multimodal Data

Research in Astronomy and Astrophysics
Stellar classification and radius estimation are crucial for understanding the structure of the Universe and stellar evolution. With the advent of the era of astronomical big data, multimodal data are available and theoretically effective for stellar ...

A New Stellar Spectral Feature Extraction Method Based on Two-dimensional Fourier Spectrum Image and Its Application in the Stellar Spectral Classification Based on Deep Network

, 2020
The classification of celestial spectra is one of the important contents of astronomical research. The key is to select and extract the most effective feature for classification from spectra data. In this paper, we propose a new feature extraction method

Mixture of Experts for Stellar Data Classification

2005
In this paper, mixture of experts model is first applied to stellar data classification. In order to obtain input patterns of mixture of experts model, we present a feature extraction method for stellar data based on wavelet packet transformation. Then a mixture of experts model is built for classifying the feature vectors.

Classification and Description of Stellar Spectra

1932
To Joseph von Fraunhofer we are indebted for the first analyses of the spectra of fixed stars. Though he was concerned with the study of spectra primarily from the standpoint of an optician and maker of achromatic objectives, Fraunhofer’s truly scientific interest led him instinctively to record and describe new phenomena which came under his ...

UV Stellar Spectral Classification

1987
Stellar observers in the ultraviolet tend to use the MK classification system as a spectral reference also in this spectral range, implying that it characterizes the whole spectrum, even if it is defined only from the visible range. However, an analysis of about two thousand spectra collected by the S2/68 experiment on board the TD1 satellite showed ...
