Spiral stellar nebulae and cosmic gas jets
Journal of the Franklin Institute, 1961Abstract The paper describes the successful culmination of a search for photographic evidence of the existence of spiral stellar nebulae, initiated by the writer's electrical discharge theory of astrophysical atmospheric phenomena, as applied to some types of bright line stars.

Pinch Instabilities in Young Stellar Object Jets
1988It is proposed that the quasi-periodic knot-like features seen in jets from young stars may, in some cases, be due to Kelvin-Helmholtz instabilities; in particular, non-disruptive reflection modes. Numerical simulations have shown that such modes saturate at finite amplitude through the formation of a periodic train of oblique internal shock waves ...

X-Ray Emission from Young Stellar Jets
2009Jets from protostars and T Tauri stars define a separate and new class of X-ray sources. New evidence suggests that X-ray emission originates in microjets of several classical T Tauri stars. We summarize the present status of our search for jet-related X-ray emission and discuss physical implications for the jet gas.

Stellar Jets and Bipolar Outflows Concluding Remarks
1993The conference has been very interesting in presenting many new observations of jet-like structures in regions of star formation. Several results have been discussed in connection with situations where jets had been earlier observed and studied, namely compact active stars, active galactic nuclei and extended radiosources.

The Kelvin-Helmholtz Instability in Stellar Jets
2009The Kelvin-Helmholtz Instability (KHI) is amongst the most relevant processes occurring in outflows propagating through an external medium. The KHI can critically affect the dynamics of jets leading to their disruption, but at same time it drives the formation of the peculiar morphologies observed in stellar collimated outflows.

Measurement of Magnetic Fields in Stellar Jets
2009This article reviews magnetic field measurements in jets from young stars, focusing on the physics and application of the three main techniques, Zeeman splitting and polarization, gyrosynchrotron radiation, and the analysis of shocked cooling zones. Estimates of field strengths in stellar jets are rare, and do not refer to the axis of the beam close to
