Acoustic Measures Capture Speech Dysfunction in Spinocerebellar Ataxia

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Spinocerebellar ataxias (SCA) are hereditary cerebellar degenerative disorders with a common feature of dysarthria, involving impaired phonatory and articulatory control of speech, thereby affecting social communication. In this study, we investigated whether acoustic measures could objectively measure speech dysfunction and identify

Discovery of a Collimated Jet from the Low-luminosity Protostar IRAS 16253−2429 in a Quiescent Accretion Phase with the JWST

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
Investigating Protostellar Accretion (IPA) is a JWST Cycle 1 GO program that uses NIRSpec integral field units and MIRI Medium Resolution Spectrograph to obtain 2.9–28 μ m spectral cubes of young, deeply embedded protostars with luminosities of 0.2–10 ...

Stellar Signatures of AGN Jet Triggered Star Formation

open access: yes, 2014
To investigate feedback between relativistic jets emanating from Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN) and the stellar population of the host galaxy, we analyze the long-term evolution of the galaxy-scale simulations by Gaibler et al.

A Q‐Learning Algorithm to Solve the Two‐Player Zero‐Sum Game Problem for Nonlinear Systems

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, Volume 39, Issue 3, Page 566-581, March 2025.
A Q‐learning algorithm to solve the two‐player zero‐sum game problem for nonlinear systems. ABSTRACT This paper deals with the two‐player zero‐sum game problem, which is a bounded L2$$ {L}_2 $$‐gain robust control problem. Finding an analytical solution to the complex Hamilton‐Jacobi‐Issacs (HJI) equation is a challenging task.

Discovery of synchrotron emission from a YSO jet

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2013
Synchrotron emission at radio wavelengths is commonly found in relativistic jets from active galactic nuclei (AGNs) and microquasars and allows the study of the magnetic field in these kind of jets.

Nonradial and nonpolytropic astrophysical outflows IX. Modeling T Tauri jets with a low mass-accretion rate

open access: yes, 2011
Context: A large sample of T Tauri stars exhibits optical jets, approximately half of which rotate slowly, only at ten per cent of their breakup velocity.

Diagnostics of inhomogeneous stellar jets - Convolution effects and data reconstruction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Context. In the interpretation of stellar jet observations, the physical parameters are usually determined from emission line ratios, obtained from spectroscopic observations or using the information contained in narrow band images.

Mitigation of Cracks in High‐Performance Nickel‐Based Superalloys in Powder Bed Fusion Laser Beam of Metals Using a Metal Matrix Composite Approach

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
High‐performance nickel‐based superalloys are often not processible in additive manufacturing (AM) due to hot cracking. The findings in this manuscript propose an efficient method to mitigate cracking and enhance mechanical properties of these alloys by producing a metal matrix composite, contributing to the material and process perspective of the AM ...

Influence of Heat Treatment on Microstructure and Mechanical Properties at Elevated Temperatures of Nonweldable Ni‐Based Alloy Printed by Fused Filament Fabrication

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The fused filament‐fabricated MAR‐M247 alloy without hot isostatic pressing shows the lowest porosity of 4%. Heat treatment at 1220 °C produces coarse precipitates and carbides. Specimens heat‐treated at 1220 °C exhibit higher tensile strength (683 MPa) and elongation (10%) at room temperature.
