CSF Levels of NPTX2 Are Associated With Less Brain Atrophy Over Time in Cognitively Unimpaired Individuals

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Neuronal pentraxin 2 (NPTX2) is a synaptic protein involved in synaptic plasticity and regulation of neuronal excitability. Lower baseline cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) NPTX2 levels have been shown to be associated with an earlier onset of mild cognitive impairment (MCI), a pre‐dementia syndrome, even after CSF Alzheimer's Disease (AD)

Mass Loss in 2D ZAMS Stellar Models

open access: yes, 2011
A large number of massive stars are known to rotate, resulting in significant distortion and variation in surface temperature from the pole to the equator. Radiatively driven mass loss is temperature dependent, so rapid rotation produces variation in mass loss and angular momentum loss rates across the surface of the star, which is expected to affect ...

Frailty Exacerbates Disability in Progressive Multiple Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background To evaluate frailty in severe progressive multiple sclerosis (PMS) and to investigate the underlying mechanisms. Methods This prospective, cross‐sectional, multicenter study enrolled a late severe PMS group requiring skilled nursing (n = 53) and an age, sex, and disease duration‐matched control PMS group (n = 53).

Rotational Evolution of Classical T Tauri Stars: Models and Observations

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We developed a grid of stellar rotation models for low-mass and solar-type classical T Tauri stars (CTTS; 0.3 M _⊙ < M _* < 1.2 M _⊙ ). These models incorporate the star–disk interaction and magnetospheric ejections to investigate the evolution of the ...

Stellar Winds And Mass Loss In A-Type Supergiants

open access: yes, 1997
We present the first systematic study on spectroscopical indicators of stellar winds and mass-loss in A-type supergiants. These stars are the coolest ones for which radiatively driven wind theory seems to be applicable. However, no systematic study has been carried out on a significant sample in order to test the correctness of this theory.

Multi‐Omics Integration for Advancing Glioma Precision Medicine

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Gliomas are among the most malignant and aggressive tumors of the central nervous system, characterized by the absence of early diagnostic markers, poor prognosis, and a lack of effective treatments. Advances in high‐throughput technologies have facilitated a refined molecular classification of gliomas, incorporating genetic features. However,

Fundamental Parameters for Central Stars of 103 Infrared Bow Shock Nebulae

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Stellar bow shock nebulae are arcuate shock fronts formed by the interaction of radiation-driven stellar winds and the relative motion of the ambient interstellar material.

The Case of a 28‐Year‐Old Woman With Medically Refractory Focal Epilepsy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We present the case of a 28‐year‐old right‐handed woman with medically refractory focal epilepsy. Her seizure semiology and electroencephalography (EEG) indicated a seizure onset zone in the right central‐parietal area. However, both MRI and PET scans were unremarkable, showing no focal lesions or areas of altered metabolism.

A Semi-analytical Model for Stellar Evolution in AGN Disks

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Disks of gas accreting onto supermassive black holes may host numerous stellar-mass objects, formed within the disk or captured from a nuclear star cluster.
