Hot‐Film and Calorimetric Methods With Transient Heating for Measurement of High Biofluid Flow Rate

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Accurate measurement of biofluid flow rate is vital for clinical diagnostics. We propose a transient heating strategy using short thermal pulses and peak temperature tracking to enhance the flow sensitivity of the hot‐Film and calorimetric methods. Simulations show how optimal heating time maximizes sensitivity across flow rates.

Wave topology of stellar inertial oscillations

open access: yesPhysical Review Research
Inertial waves in convective regions of stars exhibit topological properties linked to a Chern number of 1. The first of these is a unique, unidirectional, prograde oscillation mode within the cavity, which propagates at arbitrarily low frequencies for ...

Theory of Stellar Oscillations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Lecture presented at the IVth Azores International Advanced School in Space Sciences on "Asteroseismology and Exoplanets: Listening to the Stars and Searching for New Worlds" (arXiv:1709.00645), which took place in Horta, Azores Islands, Portugal in July ...

Excitation and damping of solar and stellar oscillations [PDF]

open access: yesSymposium - International Astronomical Union, 1988
Variable stars can be broadly classified into two categories: (a) High amplitude pulsators like Cepheids and RR Lyrae variables, (b) Low amplitude pulsators like Sun and Sun-like stars. The study of stellar pulsations has opened the possibility of using the oscillatory modes to probe the internal structure and dynamics of these stars.

IN4MER Biomaterial Ink: A Phosphorescent Biosensing Biomaterial Ink for Multiple Analytes (Glucose, Lactate, Oxygen) Measurements and Temperature Sensing Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Multianalyte, real‐time monitoring of bioprinted scaffolds remains challenging. Phosphorescence‐lifetime–based, optically responsive microparticles are embedded in diverse printable hydrogels (κ‐carrageenan, GelMA, PEGDA) to form biomaterial inks that report oxygen, glucose, lactate, and temperature.

High-order Gravity-mode Period Spacing Patterns of Intermediate-mass (1.5 M⊙ < M < 3 M⊙) Main-sequence Stars. I. Perturbative Analysis

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Theoretical study of the high-order gravity-mode period spacing (Δ P _g ) pattern is relevant to a better understanding of the internal properties of intermediate-mass (1.5 M _⊙

Stellar oscillations in TeVeS

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2010
In this work we examine the oscillation spectra of neutron stars in TeVeS. As a result with Cowling approximation, we find that the frequencies of fundamental modes in TeVeS could become lager than those expected in general relativity, while the dependence of frequency of higher overtone on gravitational theory is stronger than that of lower modes ...

Counterion Dependent Side‐Chain Relaxation Stiffens a Chemically Doped Thienothiophene Copolymer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Oxidation of a thienothiophene copolymer, p(g3TT‐T2), via different doping strategies and dopant molecules resulted in materials with similar oxidation levels and a high electrical conductivity of ≈100 S cm−1. However, mechanical properties varied significantly, with sub‐glass transition temperatures and elastic moduli spanning from –44°C to –3°C and ...

Antisolar Differential Rotation May Have Revived Magnetic Braking in the Subgiant 31 Aquilae

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
Recent observations have shown that sufficiently slow rotation disrupts the organization of large-scale magnetic field in older main-sequence stars, leading to weakened magnetic braking (WMB) and a collapse in the efficiency of the global stellar dynamo.

Stellar Oscillations Network Group – SONG

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2008
The Stellar Oscillations Network Group (SONG) is an initiative which aims at designing and building a ground-based network of 1 m telescopes dedicated to the study of phenomena occurring in the time domain. In particular the study of stellar oscillations and the search for and characterisation of extra-solar planets. There will be eight identical nodes
