Stellar Populations in Galaxies
Publications of the Astronomical Society of the Pacific, 1971This article reviews present-day knowledge of stellar populations and the relation of populations to the forms of galaxies. A historical outline of the concept of populations is followed by a summary of the present picture. After a discussion of the distribution of populations in the various types of galaxies, it is shown that the whole picture can be ...

Stellar Evolution and Populations
2017The theory of star formation and evolution is one of the most successful Astrophysical theories in last century. Based on this theory, people can predict the fate of a single star and various physical properties of a stellar population. Lots of conclusions of stellar populations in star clusters are based on the star formation and evolution theory ...

Many of the previous chapters have dealt with stars of various kinds and with the mix of stars and interstellar material that makes up the stellar population of M31. This chapter looks at the remaining aspects of these subjects: ordinary stars in Andromeda and what they tell us about the population of stars in the galaxy.

Stellar Populations in Galaxies
1997An innovative tool for the construction of Evolutionary Synthesis models of Stellar Populations is presented. It is based on three independent matrices giving respectively 1) the fuel consumption during each evolutionary phase as a function of stellar mass, 2) the typical temperatures and gravities during such phases, and 3) colors and bolometric ...

The stellar populations give traces of the formation history of the bulges. The metallicity distribution of K-giants in the Galactic bulge resembles to that of the giant ellipticals. There seems to be no conspicuous colour-magnitude relation intrinsic to the bulges.
