Versatile Gasochromic Hydrogen Detection via Supraparticle‐Based Applied Composite Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Silica‐platinum‐resazurin supraparticles are embedded into PMMA to form suprabeads and thin films. The thereby obtained indicators change color from purple to pink to colorless on hydrogen exposure. The indicator systems are tested under various environmental conditions, and their performance is related to their microscopically visualized structure ...

Stellar streams: origin and evolution

Astronomical & Astrophysical Transactions, 2006
We have made a statistical analysis of the space velocity distribution for stars in the solar neighbour-hood. Three large, probably non-random stellar streams were revealed. Those correspond to well-known moving clusters: Hyades, Pleiades and UMa. Small clumps of stars were found within the streams.

SDSS analysis of Galactic stellar streams

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2008
The last years saw numerous detections of substructure in the Galactic halo, largely due to wide area surveys like the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) or the Two Micron All Sky Survey (2MASS). The analysis of SDSS data revealed the ‘Field of Streams’ which encompasses, among other features, the broad and extended Sagittarius tidal stream as well as the

Cold stellar streams and dark matter substructure

Astronomische Nachrichten, 2008
AbstractWe present preliminary results from numerical experiments to examine the effect of dark matter subhaloes on the coherence of Cold Stellar Streams. We show that the evolution of the globular cluster, Pal 5, in a smooth Galactic potential can not account for the structure seen in its tidal tails.
