Ideal Molecular Sieving with a Dense MOF for Helium Upgrading with Highly Diffusion Selective Mixed Matrix Membranes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The separation of Helium gas from natural gas is challenging but highly important. MIL‐116(Ga), a “non‐porous” metal–organic framework is used as a molecular sieve to separate He from CH4. Druse‐like MIL‐116(Ga) particles are integrated into polysulfone mixed matrix membranes.

On the kinematic detection of accreted streams in the Gaia era: a cautionary tale

open access: yes, 2016
The $\Lambda$CDM cosmological scenario predicts that our Galaxy should contain hundreds of stellar streams at the solar vicinity, fossil relics of the merging history of the Milky Way and more generally of the hierarchical growth of galaxies.

The Density Structure of Simulated Stellar Streams [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2020
Abstract Star particles in a set of dense clusters are self-consistently evolved within an LCDM dark matter distribution with an n-body code. The clusters are started on nearly circular orbits in the more massive sub-halos. Each cluster develops a stellar tidal stream, initially within its original sub-halo.

3D (Bio) Printing Combined Fiber Fabrication Methods for Tissue Engineering Applications: Possibilities and Limitations

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Biofabrication aims at providing innovative technologies and tools for the fabrication of tissue‐like constructs for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine applications. By integrating multiple biofabrication technologies, such as 3D (bio) printing with fiber fabrication methods, it would be more realistic to reconstruct native tissue's ...

Phase-space Properties and Chemistry of the Sagittarius Stellar Stream Down to the Extremely Metal-poor ([Fe/H] ≲ −3) Regime

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
In this work, we study the phase-space and chemical properties of the Sagittarius (Sgr) stream, the tidal tails produced by the ongoing destruction of the Sgr dwarf spheroidal (dSph) galaxy, focusing on its very metal-poor (VMP; [Fe/H] < −2) content.

Red Clump Stars in the Sagittarius Tidal Streams

open access: yes, 2012
We have probed a section (l ~ 150, b ~ -60) of the trailing tidal arm of the Sagittarius dwarf spheroidal galaxy by identifying a sample of Red Clump stream stars.

Mass Accretion Processes in Young Stellar Objects: Role of Intense Flaring Activity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
According to the magnetospheric accretion scenario, young low-mass stars are surrounded by circumstellar disks which they interact with through accretion of mass.

Fractional Skyrmion Tubes in Chiral‐Interfaced 3D Magnetic Nanowires

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In chiral 3D helical magnetic nanowires, the coupling between the geometric and magnetic chirality provides a way to create topological spin states like vortex tubes. Here, it is demonstrated how the breaking of this coupling in interfaced 3D nanowires of opposite chirality leads to even more complex topological spin states, such as fractional ...

The Fornax dwarf galaxy as a remnant of recent dwarf-dwarf merging in the Local Group

open access: yes, 2012
We present results from the first numerical analysis to support the hypothesis, first proposed in Coleman et al. (2004), that the Fornax dwarf galaxy was formed from the minor merging of two dwarfs about 2 Gyr ago.

Search for Exoplanets in steLLar streAms (SELLA)

open access: yes, 2022
In this work we search and characterize exoplanets orbiting members of stellar streams, which are structures in the Galaxy composed of stars with similar dynamic and chemical properties, and with galactic or extragalactic origin. With current facilities, the detection of exoplanets in extragalactic stellar streams, resulting from merger events, could ...
