Observations of Extremely Metal-poor O Stars: Weak Winds and Constraints for Evolution Models

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Metal-poor massive stars drive the evolution of low-mass galaxies, both locally and at high redshift. However, quantifying the feedback they impart to their local surroundings remains uncertain because models of stellar evolution, mass loss, and ionizing

Two-component magnetohydrodynamical outflows around young stellar objects Interplay between stellar magnetospheric winds and disc-driven jets

open access: yes, 2006
We present the first-ever simulations of non-ideal magnetohydrodynamical (MHD) stellar magnetospheric winds coupled with disc-driven jets where the resistive and viscous accretion disc is self-consistently described.

Tumor clusters with divergent inflammation and human retroelement expression determine the clinical outcome of patients with serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Analysis of treatment‐naïve high‐grade serous ovarian carcinoma (HGSOC) and control tissues for ERVs, LINE‐1 (L1), inflammation, and immune checkpoints identified five clusters with diverse patient recurrence‐free survivals. An inflammation score was calculated and correlated with retroelement expression, where one novel cluster (Triple‐I) with high ...

Testing the Rossby Paradigm: Weakened Magnetic Braking in Early K-type Stars

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
There is an intricate relationship between the organization of large-scale magnetic fields by a stellar dynamo and the rate of angular momentum loss due to magnetized stellar winds. An essential ingredient for the operation of a large-scale dynamo is the

Is the Wind of the Galactic Oe Star HD 155806 Magnetically Confined?

open access: yes, 2010
Spectropolarimetric observations of HD 155806 - the hottest Galactic Oe star - were obtained with CFHT/ESPaDOnS to test the hypothesis that disk signatures in its spectrum are due to magnetic channeling and confinement of its stellar wind.

Machine learning for identifying liver and pancreas cancers through comprehensive serum glycopeptide spectra analysis: a case‐control study

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study presents a novel AI‐based diagnostic approach—comprehensive serum glycopeptide spectra analysis (CSGSA)—that integrates tumor markers and enriched glycopeptides from serum. Using a neural network model, this method accurately distinguishes liver and pancreatic cancers from healthy individuals.

β‐TrCP overexpression enhances cisplatin sensitivity by depleting BRCA1

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Low levels of β‐TrCP (Panel A) allow the accumulation of BRCA1 and CtIP, which facilitate the repair of cisplatin‐induced DNA damage via homologous recombination (HR) and promote tumor cell survival. In contrast, high β‐TrCP expression (Panel B) leads to BRCA1 and CtIP degradation, impairing HR repair, resulting in persistent DNA damage and apoptosis ...

Strong Bow Shocks: Turbulence and an Exact Self-similar Asymptotic

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We show that strong bow shocks are turbulent and nonuniversal near the head but asymptote to a universal, steady, self-similar, and analytically solvable flow in the downstream.

PARP inhibitors elicit distinct transcriptional programs in homologous recombination competent castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.
