Neurodevelopmental Alterations in Inhibitory Interneurons of Cortex, Hippocampus, and Striatum of Genetic Absence Epilepsy Rats

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 32, Issue 9, September 2026.
Schematic conceptual model illustrating the proposed temporally distinct contributions of cortical interneuron populations to absence seizure maturation in GAERS shown within thalamocortical loop (VPM–TRN–cortex). Early PV+ interneuron upregulation primes cortical networks for SWD initiation, while later SST+ interneuron increases in M1 cortex ...

Smoking Abstinence Elicits Hyperalgesia: Neural Mechanism, Clinical Implications, and Pharmacological Managements

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 32, Issue 9, September 2026.
The cycle between nicotine use and pain modulation. Cigarette smoking leads to nicotine entering the body, which binds to nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) in the brain, triggering the release of different neurotransmitters, including dopamine (DA), norepinephrine (NE), serotonin (5‐HT), and GABA.

P7C3 Compounds as Targeted Mitochondrial Therapeutics for Brain Disorders

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 32, Issue 9, September 2026.
P7C3 activates NAMPT, the rate‐limiting enzyme in the NAD+ salvage pathway, elevating NAD+ levels in neurons. This engages SIRT1‐dependent nuclear signaling and SIRT3‐dependent mitochondrial regulation, enhancing mitochondrial quality control, reducing oxidative stress, and promoting neuronal survival.

Retrospective Analysis of T2‐Hyperintense Lesions in Children With Neurofibromatosis Type 1

open access: yesAnnals of the Child Neurology Society, Volume 4, Issue 3, Page 197-206, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective The aim of this study is to determine whether a previously reported three‐tiered classification scheme for T2‐hyperintense brain lesions in children with neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) was associated with distinct radiographic or clinical characteristics after 10 years of real‐world follow‐up data were obtained.

Cancer‐related pain: A bidirectional modulator of cancer progression

open access: yesClinical and Translational Medicine, Volume 16, Issue 9, September 2026.
CRP and tumour progression engage in a dynamic, bidirectional circuit mediated by multiple mechanisms involving neuroimmunology and cancer ‐neuroscience. Analgesic interventions may affect tumour progression, while anticancer therapies can influence pain. Targeting pain in cancer may have promising therapeutic value in cancer progression.
