Blinatumomab-induced remission followed by haploidentical transplantation in pediatric relapsed/refractory pre-B ALL: a multicenter study in Mexico

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology
BackgroundPrecursor B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (pre-B ALL) is the most common pediatric cancer worldwide, with cure rates exceeding 85% in high-income countries.

Epigenetic reprogramming of lineage switching in cancer

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cancer cells rarely commit to a single identity. Epigenetic mechanisms and tumor microenvironment cues push epithelial cells toward flexible, hybrid states that can shift into mesenchymal, neuroendocrine, or stem‐like fates, driving metastasis, drug resistance, and tumor heterogeneity. Targeting the epigenetic regulators behind these transitions, using

Prognostic impact of clinico-genetic characteristics and donor types in -mutated AML undergoing allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation

open access: yesCell Transplantation
NPM1 -mutated acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a distinct entity with specific biological and clinicopathological features. Prognosis varies depending on the associated mutations and clinical characteristics. This study evaluated the prognostic factors of

Transient inhibition of NF-κB signaling enhances ex vivo propagation of human hematopoietic stem cells

open access: yesHaematologica, 2018
Despite extensive studies, defining culture conditions in which hematopoietic stem cells can be expanded ex vivo has been challenging. Here we show that chemical inhibition of the NF-κB signaling pathway leads to a significant improvement of ...

Stem cell therapy for diabetes

open access: yesIndian Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism, 2012
Stem cell therapy holds immense promise for the treatment of patients with diabetes mellitus. Research on the ability of human embryonic stem cells to differentiate into islet cells has defined the developmental stages and transcription factors involved in this process.

The microbiome in human skin aging

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐related skin changes encompass the well‐known visible phenotypic alterations, together with microbiome dysbiosis and a series of molecular aging hallmarks. These hallmarks characterize not only a fully stablished aged phenotype but also the skin aging process itself.

Brief Report: The lincRNA Hotair Is Required for Epithelial-to-Mesenchymal Transition and Stemness Maintenance of Cancer Cell Lines

open access: yes, 2013
Hotair is a member of the recently described class of noncoding RNAs called lincRNA (large intergenic noncoding RNA). Various studies suggest that Hotair acts regulating epigenetic states by recruiting chromatin-modifying complexes to specific target ...

Stem Cell Research & Therapy marks its first anniversary [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Just over a year ago we launched Stem Cell Research & Therapy with the aim of it becoming the major forum for translational research into stem cell therapies [1]. As we celebrate our first year of publication we look back at what we have achieved and how

Partial depletion of plasminogen activator inhibitor‐1 decreases subcutaneous fat cell hypertrophy and liver cholesterol in high‐fat‐fed female mice

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Obesity raises blood levels of PAI‐1, a protein linked to metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease in people with obesity. In female mice fed a high‐fat diet, partially lowering PAI‐1 led to smaller subcutaneous fat cells and lower liver cholesterol, without changing body weight or insulin sensitivity.

Adult limbal neurosphere cells: a potential autologous cell resource for retinal cell generation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The Corneal limbus is a readily accessible region at the front of the eye, separating the cornea and sclera. Neural colonies (neurospheres) can be generated from adult corneal limbus in vitro.
