Predicting Biomass of Beaver Food from Willow Stem Diameters [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Range Management, 1995
Beaver (Castor canadensis Kuhl) and willow (Salix spp.) are important components of riparian restoration on degraded western rangelands. Land managers need quantitative information to evaluate carrying capacity and potential habitat quality for beavers in riparian-willow systems.

Thermomechanical Fatigue and Creep–Fatigue Interaction of Inconel 718 Additively Manufactured by Laser Beam Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Thermomechanical fatigue tests of laser beam powder bed fusion (PBF‐LB) Inconel 718 show that the additively manufactured material reaches almost the lifetimes of conventionally‐rolled material under no‐dwell conditions. Introducing dwell times at the maximum temperature markedly reduces the lifetimes due to pronounced grain boundary sliding associated

IMPROVING GROWTH AND PRODUCTIVITY OF POJ 2878 THROUGH BIPARENTAL CROSSING [PDF]

open access: yesRussian Journal of Agricultural and Socio-Economic Sciences
The increase in sugar demand over the last 5 years has led to efforts to increase sugar production, including creating new superior varieties; the biparental crossing is one way to produce new superior varieties.

Irrigation scheduling from stem diameter variations: A review

open access: yesAgricultural and Forest Meteorology, 2010
17 pages, 2 figures, 3 tables. Precise irrigation is essential in arid and semi-arid areas where water is scarce. This has impelled the scientific community to develop new technologies for scheduling irrigation. Of these, the ones relying on plant-based water-stress indicators have been found to have the greatest potential. Thus, measurements

Low‐Angle Grain Boundaries and Re‐Segregation in Single‐Crystalline Ni‐Base Superalloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates that Re‐segregation at low‐angle grain boundaries (LAGBs) in Ni‐base superalloys is influenced by misorientation angle. Advanced microscopy and atom probe tomography reveal that higher misorientation angles increases Re‐segregation.

Occurrence, morphology and growth of understory saplings in Swedish forests [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Growing demands for a multipurpose forestry leads to increased use of silvicultural systems that avoid clear-cutting. Regeneration in such systems is based on establishment and ingrowth of new seedlings under a more or less closed canopy.

Ideal Molecular Sieving with a Dense MOF for Helium Upgrading with Highly Diffusion Selective Mixed Matrix Membranes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The separation of Helium gas from natural gas is challenging but highly important. MIL‐116(Ga), a “non‐porous” metal–organic framework is used as a molecular sieve to separate He from CH4. Druse‐like MIL‐116(Ga) particles are integrated into polysulfone mixed matrix membranes.

Understanding and Optimizing Li Substitution in P2‐Type Sodium Layered Oxides for Sodium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work explores Li‐substituted P2 layered oxides for Na‐ion batteries by crystallographic and electrochemical studies. The effect of lithium on superstructure orderings, on phase transitions during synthesis and electrochemical cycling and on the interplay of O‐ versus TM‐redox is revealed via various advanced techniques, including semi‐simultaneous

INFLUENCE OF SEEDING RATES ON LODGING AND YIELD OF DIFFERENT OAT CULTIVARS [PDF]

open access: yesمجلة الأنبار للعلوم الزراعية
This study investigated the potential for controlling lodging by manipulating the seeding rates for oat cultivars introduced in Iraq. A field experiment was conducted in the winter 2022-23 at one of the agricultural fields in Ramadi, in the western ...
