To compare functional and anatomic outcomes of transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunts (TIPSs) created with the specialized Viatorr stent versus a Wallstent/Fluency stent combination.Retrospective review of patients who underwent TIPS creation with stent-grafts was conducted over a 54-month period ending in June 2008.

Minimally Invasive Therapy & Allied Technologies, 1999
SummaryAbdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA) are a major healthcare problem for which the conventional treatment is open operative repair. More recently, endovascular approaches to this problem have been developed and continue to progress, with the placement of stent–grafts via much less invasive approaches. This article reviews the history of these devices

Thoracic Aortic Stent-Grafting
Heart Disease, 2002The surgical management of thoracic disease has improved steadily over the past 20 years due to advances in diagnostic and surgical techniques. Despite this progress, a less invasive approach to treatment is desirable. Patients with coexisting cardiovascular or pulmonary diseases may not tolerate aortic replacement under general anesthesia ...

Fenestrated and Branched Stent Grafts
Perspectives in Vascular Surgery and Endovascular Therapy, 2008It is estimated that 50% of patients with abdominal aortic aneurysms are not candidates for endovascular repair using the currently commercially available devices because of unfavorable anatomy. This includes patients with short or angulated necks, aneurysmal extension into either internal iliac artery, or complex aneurysmal involvement of the ...

Perspectives in Vascular Surgery and Endovascular Therapy, 2004
By adding branches to endografts, we can dramatically increase the number of aneurysm patients treatable by an endovascular approach. There are two techniques for including aortic branches in endovascular reconstructions:fenestration of the stent-graft and endovascular bypass using a branched stent-graft.

Stent grafting for aortic dissection
The Japanese Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, 1999We report the successful treatment of a patient with Stanford type B aortic dissection, "thrombosed" type with ulcer-like projections, by insertion of a stent-graft. The false lumen completely disappeared within 1 year after surgery. This maturing procedure is promising in the treatment of thrombosed, aggravated aortic dissection.

Development of endovascular stent-grafts
Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part H: Journal of Engineering in Medicine, 2007The very first experiences in the early 1990s with endovascular aortic stent-grafts were associated with significant numbers of complications including an inability to deploy the stent-graft, conversion to open surgery, and aneurysm rupture. By the mid-1990s, improved home-made and commercially available stent-grafts started to appear.
