Explaining the Origin of Negative Poisson's Ratio in Amorphous Networks With Machine Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
This review summarizes how machine learning (ML) breaks the “vicious cycle” in designing auxetic amorphous networks. By transitioning from traditional “black‐box” optimization to an interpretable “AI‐Physics” closed‐loop paradigm, ML is shown to not only discover highly optimized structures—such as all‐convex polygon networks—but also unveil hidden ...

Coating stent materials with polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane-poly(carbonateurea)urethane nanocomposites [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The long-term efficacy of coronary or peripheral stenting is limited by in-stent restenosis (ISR), which occurs in 15 to 30% of patients and is attributed primarily to neointimal hyperplasia.

Small‐Scale Magnetic Peristaltic Soft Robot With Mobility and Transport Capabilities

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This study introduces a miniature, untethered soft magnetic microrobot with peristaltic capabilities for both locomotion and cargo transport. Eight helically magnetized elastomeric strips deform under rotating fields (10–80 mT, 1–5 Hz), enabling movement across rods and lumina at up to 4.1 body lengths min‐¹.

The Risk of Cardiovascular Diseases for Shift Workers in the Prospective Heinz Nixdorf Recall Study

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Industrial Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Shift work can disrupt circadian rhythms and is postulated to play a role in cardiovascular diseases (CVD). In the German prospective population‐based Heinz Nixdorf Recall Study, we analyzed longitudinal associations between shift work and night‐shift work with CVD.

Innovative Design of Biodegradable Stents: Enhancing Durability and Compatibility to Mitigate Restenosis and Thrombosis in Vascular Treatments [PDF]

open access: yes
Heart diseases are the leading global causes of mortality and morbidity due to obstructed blood vessels. Current clinical practice primarily utilizes stents, but standard models encounter significant limitations, including restenosis ...

Temperature‐Controlled Radiofrequency for Severe Nasal Airway Obstruction: A Non‐Inferiority Comparison With Surgical Intervention

open access: yesInternational Forum of Allergy &Rhinology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Temperature‐controlled radiofrequency (TCRF), septoplasty (ST) with turbinate reduction, and functional rhinoplasty (FR) are treatment options for nasal airway obstruction (NAO) and nasal valve dysfunction (NVD), but no direct comparison of these procedures has been performed. Methods This prospective, open‐label, non‐inferiority (

Extent of Sinus Surgery Is Associated With Disease Control in Biologic Treated Type 2 Dominant CRS

open access: yesInternational Forum of Allergy &Rhinology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background A greater benefit of biologics is observed after surgery in Type 2 chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP). However, the extent of surgery remains undefined in many studies. This study evaluated the extent of surgery on disease control in patients receiving biologics for refractory Type 2 dominant CRSwNP.
