A Versatile Engineering Platform for the Fabrication of Prosthetic Venous Valves Using Electrospinning

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Percutaneous prosthetic venous valves are fabricated by embedding stents in an electrospun matrix that extends luminally to form leaflets. The design shields leaflets from hyperplastic cells, isolates struts from blood contact, and avoids discrete anchoring points.

A novel protocol for the characterization of ureteral stent echogenicity

open access: yesBMC Urology
Background Decreasing radiation exposure in renal colic management involves revisiting diagnostic, intraoperative, and postoperative practices. One approach is a shift in procedural standards from intraoperative fluoroscopy to ultrasonography.

Airway stents [PDF]

open access: yesAnnals of Cardiothoracic Surgery, 2018
Stents and tubes to maintain the patency of the airways are commonly used for malignant obstruction and are occasionally employed in benign disease. Malignant airway obstruction usually results from direct involvement of bronchogenic carcinoma, or by extension of carcinomas occurring in the esophagus or the thyroid.

3D‐Printed Gastrointestinal Stents: In Vivo Evaluation in a Swine Small Bowel Perforation Model

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Gastrointestinal fistulae and perforations can lead to severe complications including sepsis and patient death. In this work, the efficacy of 3D‐printed gastrointestinal stents composed of poly‐lactic‐acid (PLA) was evaluated in an in vivo swine model.

3D Anodic Alumina Nanoarchitectures: A Decade of Progress from Foundational Science to Functional Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Ordered three‐dimensional anodic aluminum oxide (3D‐AAO) nanoarchitectures with longitudinal and transverse pores enable architecture‐driven metamaterials. The review maps fabrication advances, including hybrid pulse anodization, and shows how 3D‐AAO templates tailor properties across magnetism, energy, catalysis, and sensing.
