Systematic review of STEP-NC-based inspection
The International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology, 2020Closed-loop inspection manufacturing (CLIM) and computer-aided inspection planning (CAIP) have increasingly been evolved into a size method that can be used to look at fashions in the industrial area with a number of methods. CAIP is hastily carried out in the gadget and will become an indispensable phase of the production system.

STEP-NC- and XML-enabled e-manufacturing
International Journal of Computer Applications in Technology, 2006STEP-NC is a newly developed international standard (ISO 14649), which extends the STandard for Exchange of Product model data (STEP) geometric data exchange standard into the manufacturing domain by defining a bidirectional interface between Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) systems and Computerised Numerical Control (CNC) controllers.

STEP-NC Based Manufacturability Evaluation
2010This paper presents an evaluation method for part manufacturability. The data model used is the STEP-NC data model, i.e. ISO 14649. Firstly, the evaluation indices such as workpiece clamping, performance of machine tools, resources of cutting tools and auxiliary performances are presented.

Feature-based process planning using step-NC
International Technology and Innovation Conference 2006 (ITIC 2006), 2006To survive in the global market, companies must integrate CAD, CAM and CNC so as to make products of higher quality with lower cost and shorter lead times. Traditionally, NC programming for machine tools is normally done by using G-code (ISO 6983 Numerical control of machines - Program format and definition of address words - Part 1: Data format for ...

Improving Shipyard Manufacturing Processes Using STEP-NC
Journal of Ship Production, 2005A recent study showed that a UK Navy depot can save $4 million by rapidly manufacturing machined parts from a feature-based product data description. However, the study also showed that only 2,000 of a potential 13,000 parts can be eliminated from the inventory if the data are given just a feature-based description because there is a limit to the ...

STEP-NC Based Industrial Robot CAM System
IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2009Abstract In this paper a computer aided manufacturing (CAM) system for industrial robot machining operations is introduced. The system is based on the new machining standard STEP-NC which is rapidly making its way into the world of numerical controlled (NC-) machines (e.g. milling and turning machines).

Development of STEP-NC for intelligent machining
2017 International Conference on Advances in Mechanical, Industrial, Automation and Management Systems (AMIAMS), 2017G-M codes have been used since decades and now have become obstacle in intelligent manufacturing. G-M codes only gives motion to the tool across the workpiece. It does not provide high level information of operation and feature to the machinist, who is completely unaware of operability of these codes.

STEP-NC based machining sequencing using Genetic Algorithm
2010 Chinese Control and Decision Conference, 2010To realize true integration between design and manufacturing via sharing product information among CAD/CAM/CNC chain, a new and comprehensive data model for NC programming formalized as in ISO14649 has been published by the International Organization of Standardization.

Validating Portability of STEP-NC Tool Center Programming
Volume 3: 25th Computers and Information in Engineering Conference, Parts A and B, 2005A joint effort between Boeing and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) was undertaken for validating and evaluating STEP AP238 (STEP-NC) Conformance Class 1 (CC1) for 5-axis machining. STEP-NC is a new manufacturing standard to support “design anywhere, build anywhere, and support anywhere.” The joint Boeing/NIST validation ...

Development of STEP-NC Based Manufacturability Evaluation System
Advanced Materials Research, 2012A method and prototype system have been developed to assess manufacturability of a machining job with a known machine tool. The data for describing the machining task confirms to STEP-NC data model, i.e. ISO 14649. A group of manufacturability indices have been suggested used in the system.
