Transient magnetorheological response of magnetoactive elastomers to step and pyramid excitations
Soft Matter, 2016Transient rheological response of magnetoactive elastomers is experimentally studied using dynamic torsion at a fixed oscillation frequency in temporally stepwise changing magnetic fields and oscillation amplitudes. For step magnetic-field excitations, at least three exponential functions are required to reasonably describe the time behavior of the ...

The Geometry of Zoser's Step Pyramid at Saqqara
Journal of the Society of Architectural Historians, 1986The Step Pyramid of Zoser at Saqqara is examined from the point of view of constructive geometry and mensuration. The evidence is that it is based on geometric proportion, though this may simply be the outcome of peg-and-chord technology employed in setting out the monument. The procedure that the architect may have followed in setting out the monument

Repetition Pitch glide from the step pyramid at Chichen Itza
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2006Standing at the foot of the Mayan step pyramid at Chichen Itza in Mexico, one can produce a pitchy “chirp” echo by handclapping. As exposed by Declercq et al. [J. Acoust. Soc. Am. 116, 3328–3335 (2004)], an acoustic model based on optical Bragg diffraction at a periodic structure cannot explain satisfactorily the chirp-echo sonogram.

Composite Nanofibers Containing Microparticles Produced via a Stepped Pyramid-Shaped Spinneret
Advanced Materials Research, 2014A novel free surface electrospining via a stepped pyramid-shaped spinneret was used to prepare composite nanofibers containing microparticles. We investigate the spinnability of Polyacrylonitrile (PAN) solution containing graphite powder microparticles. The influence of microparticle on fiber diameter has been studied.

Impaired step-tracking control in patients with cerebellar and pyramidal lesions
Neurophysiology, 1988Kinematic and electromyographic characteristics of step-tracking movements performed with and without visual guidance were investigated in patients with prevalently intermediary and lateral cerebellar and pyramidal tract lesions. Parameters of the phasic programmed component of motion were shown to be little affected by damage to the intermediary ...

High throughput of quality nanofibers via one stepped pyramid-shaped spinneret
Materials Letters, 2013Abstract A novel approach to needleless electrospinning of nanofibers has been developed to increase the productivity of nanofibers. Multiple jets were observed to form on the edges of the stepped pyramid-shaped spinneret simultaneously. Compared with the traditional needle based electrospinning, nanofibers produced by the stepped pyramid-shaped ...

Fabrication of Inverted-Pyramid Silicon Nanopore Arrays with Three-Step Wet Etching
ECS Journal of Solid State Science and Technology, 2013Inverted-pyramid silicon nanopore arrays are realized with a well-controlled, three-step, anisotropic wet etching process with different KOH bath temperatures. The influence of etchant concentration and temperature on the etching rate is investigated. Nanopore arrays with an average size of 100 nm and individual nanopores with feature sizes as small as

Abstract Here, we report the fabrication of one step NiO nanopyramid thin film as a binder-free electrode with improved electrochemical properties using a reactive magnetron sputtering. The crystalline nature, surface morphology and chemical composition of the as deposited NiO thin films were analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy ...
