THE ECM MARK II: SOME OBSERVATIONS ON THE ROTOR STEPPING

Cryptologia, 2002
The ECM Mark II has been described previously in Cryptologia [1]. An analysis of the motion of the rotors is presented here. A computer simulation of the ECM is available for download from the author's WWW Home Page.

Numerical analysis of multipole magnetizing of a PM stepping motor rotor

IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 1988
A mathematical model of the magnetic field of a multipole magnetized permanent-magnet (PM) ring, which is being used as the rotor of a PM stepping motor, is obtained using a coupled boundary-element-finite-element method. The surface magnetic flux and the flux distributions in the magnet and air gap are calculated.

Experimental Response of a Rotor Supported on Rayleigh Step Gas Bearings

Volume 4: Turbo Expo 2005, 2005
Reliable gas bearings will enable the rapid deployment of high speed oil-free micro-turbomachinery. This paper presents analysis and experiments of the dynamic performance of a small rotor supported on Rayleigh step gas bearings. Comprehensive tests demonstrate that Rayleigh step hybrid gas bearings exhibit adequate stiffness and damping capability in ...

Time step criteria for rotor-stator unsteady simulations of turbomachinery

Proceedings of Global Power & Propulsion Society
With the rapid improvement of computing power, unsteady Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes (U-RANS) solvers are increasingly used to get a deeper comprehension of the rotor-stator unsteady flows inside turbomachinery. The dual-time stepping method is adopted in most U-RANS solvers and the determination of the optimal size of physical time step is a ...

3D effects of rotor step-skews in permanent magnet assisted synchronous reluctance machines

2015 IEEE Magnetics Conference (INTERMAG), 2015
Permanent magnet assisted synchronous reluctance machines (PMA SynRM), stemming from the combination of synchronous reluctance and interior PM machine topologies, have recently gained increasing popularity as a viable candidate for electric vehicle traction applications due to concerns regarding the price volatility of rare-earth magnet materials ...

ENIGMA: ACTIONS INVOLVED IN THE ‘DOUBLE STEPPING’ OF THE MIDDLE ROTOR

Cryptologia, 1997
A description is given of the sequence of mechanical events which lead to the ‘double stepping’ of the middle rotor of the three-rotor Enigma. The sequence is also presented in tabular form.
