When noninvasive modalities fail to adequately localize the seizure onset zone (SOZ) in children with medically refractory epilepsy, invasive interrogation with stereo-electroencephalography (SEEG) or subdural electrodes may be required. Our center utilizes SEEG for invasive monitoring in a carefully selected population of children, many of whom have ...

Stereo-electroencephalography (SEEG) in children surgically cured of their epilepsy
Neurophysiologie Clinique/Clinical Neurophysiology, 2016SEEG in children has a low morbidity and leads to a good surgical outcome, in particular in younger patients. We analysed, in detail, the SEEG data of patients that were subsequently cured by surgery. We selected the 48 children explored between 2009 and 2013 in our centre and surgically cured after SEEG-based resections with at least one-year follow-up.

Stereo-electroencephalography (SEEG) is an invasive procedure, used to identify the epileptogenic zone that can be surgically removed in order to treat drug-resistant epilepsy. Frameless robot-assisted positioning of depth electrodes permits a 3D approach with different obliquities and trajectories.

Neurosurgical Review, 2019
In medical refractory temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE), the epileptogenic zone can be difficult to identify and therefore difficult to treat, especially in the absence of clear MRI pathologies and specific results from presurgical evaluation. Invasive monitoring with stereo-electroencephalography (sEEG) is a tool for a better determination of the ...

Aim. We report our experience of stereoelectroencephalography (SEEG) in 65 children with drug‐resistant seizures, with a particular emphasis on young children.Methods. We retrospectively studied all SEEG performed between 2009 and 2011 in our centre. As SEEG can have several indications, the patients were classified into three categories, according to ...
