Expanding the scope of pediatric epilepsy surgery: Access, indications, and outcomes in a modern cohort

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective Expanded indications, diagnostic tools, and treatment options have transformed the landscape of modern pediatric epilepsy surgery. Published real‐world experiences from large surgical cohorts are still needed. To close this gap, we evaluated access, indications, treatment, and outcomes in a contemporary pediatric epilepsy surgery ...

Dynamic network connectivity analysis to identify the epileptogenic zones based on stereo-electroencephalography

open access: yesFrontiers in Computational Neuroscience, 2016
ObjectivesAccurate localization of the epileptogenic zones (EZs) is essential for the successful surgical treatment of the refractory focal epilepsy. The aim of the present study is to investigate whether a dynamic network connectivity analysis based on ...

Excitatory neurons and astrocytes‐specific dysregulation and aberrant interactions are vulnerable to FCDI as suggested by single‐cell spatial transcriptomics

open access: yesClinical and Translational Medicine, Volume 16, Issue 5, May 2026.
• Excitatory neurons and astrocytes show marked alterations in the single‐cell spatial transcriptomic atlas of epileptogenic cortex from patients with focal cortical dysplasia type I (FCDI). • The CBLN2high excitatory neuron subtype may be associated with neuronal hyperexcitability and cortical development in FCDI.

Attention and Executive Functions Are the Most Vulnerable Cognitive Domains in Patients With Drug‐Resistant Epilepsy Prior to Neurostimulation Therapy

open access: yesBrain and Behavior, Volume 16, Issue 4, April 2026.
More than one‐third of the patients with drug‐resistant epilepsy (DRE) referred for neurostimulation therapies exhibited cognitive impairment across all four assessed domains. Deficits in attention and executive functions were the most prevalent and severe, affecting 66% of the cohort.

Cortico-Cortical Evoked Potentials in Children With Tuberous Sclerosis Complex Using Stereo-Electroencephalography

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurology, 2019
Objectives: Patients with tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) present multiple cortical tubers in the brain, which are responsible for epilepsy. It is still difficult to localize the epileptogenic tuber.

Scalp‐negative medial temporal interictal epileptic discharges alter large‐scale brain networks: A simultaneous high‐density electroencephalographic and intracranial electroencephalographic study

open access: yesEpilepsia, Volume 67, Issue 4, Page 1992-2006, April 2026.
Abstract Objective Interictal epileptiform discharges (IEDs) observed on scalp electroencephalography (EEG) serve as a diagnostic hallmark of epilepsy. However, only a small fraction of IEDs recorded by intracranial EEG (iEEG) are detectable on the scalp; the vast majority remain invisible on scalp recordings.

Clinical outcomes and learning curve of MRgLITT system for drug‐resistant epilepsy in China: A single‐center retrospective study

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, Volume 11, Issue 2, Page 475-487, April 2026.
Abstract Objective Magnetic resonance‐guided laser interstitial thermal therapy (MRgLITT) is a minimally invasive technique that allows for real‐time magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) monitoring and precise ablation of epileptogenic lesions. This study reports our initial clinical experience with a domestically developed MRgLITT system in patients with ...

Identification of the epileptogenic zone of temporal lobe epilepsy from stereo-electroencephalography signals: A phase transfer entropy and graph theory approach

open access: yesNeuroImage: Clinical, 2017
The aim of this research is to apply an approach based on phase transfer entropy (PTE) and graph theory to study the interactions between the stereo-electroencephalography (SEEG) activities recorded in multilobar origin, in order to evaluate their ...
