And That’s Not All: (Sur)Faces of Justice in Philosophy of Education

open access: yesPhilosophies, 2021
Adjectives such as “environmental”, “social”, “cosmopolitan”, “relational”, “distributive”, etc. reflect how scholars discern the many faces of justice and put several claims to, and claimants of, justice in perspective.

Scalable Thermal Engineering via Femtosecond Laser‐Direct‐Written Phononic Nanostructures

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that femtosecond laser‐induced periodic surface structures (fs‐LIPSS) can function as phononic metasurfaces, reducing thermal conductivity below the plain thin‐film limit. Phonon Monte Carlo analysis reveals that the periodic structures restrict phonon mean free paths.

Anatomy teacher's perspectives on using AnaVu: A novel low-resource stereoscopic projection system for neuroanatomy education

open access: yesNational Journal of Clinical Anatomy, 2023
Background: The authors had earlier studied the utility of stereoscopic projection of neuroanatomic three-dimensional models through AnaVu (a low resource stereoscopic projection system) on medical students.

UTact: Underwater Vision‐Based Tactile Sensor with Geometry Reconstruction and Contact Force Estimation

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Embedded flexible sensing technologies advance underwater soft robotics, yet most systems still suffer from hysteresis and limited perceptiveness. Instead, vision‐based tactile sensors provide reliable and rapid feedback essential for complex underwater tasks.

Sweet—An Open Source Modular Platform for Contactless Hand Vascular Biometric Experiments

open access: yesSensors
Current finger-vein or palm-vein recognition systems usually require direct contact of the subject with the apparatus. This can be problematic in environments where hygiene is of primary importance.

La vision artificielle est une méthode d'avenir pour la reconnaissance automatisée des plantes adventices [PDF]

open access: yesBiotechnologie, Agronomie, Société et Environnement, 2011
Machine vision is a method for the future to automatically recognize weeds from plants. Weeds compete with crop plants for sunlight, moisture and nutrients and can have a detrimental impact on crop yields and quality if uncontrolled.

Structural and Functional Characterization of EXPO‐Derived Extracellular Vesicles in Plants

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In this study, 3D electron tomography (ET), cryo‐ET, and immunogold transmission electron microscopy (TEM) are employed to characterize plant extracellular vesicles (EVs) under physiological conditions. EVs are classified into three distinct categories according to their size, content, and molecular‐marker profiles. Furthermore, Exo70E2‐positive medium

Single exposure 3D imaging of dusty plasma clusters

open access: yes, 2012
We have worked out the details of a single camera, single exposure method to perform three-dimensional imaging of a finite particle cluster. The procedure is based on the plenoptic imaging principle and utilizes a commercial Lytro light field still ...

Bootstrapping the Coronal Magnetic Field with STEREO: I. Unipolar Potential Field Modeling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We investigate the recently quantified misalignment of $\alpha_{mis} \approx 20^\circ-40^\circ$ between the 3-D geometry of stereoscopically triangulated coronal loops observed with STEREO/EUVI (in four active regions) and theoretical (potential or ...
