Stereotaxic radiotherapy technique for small intracranial lesions
A stereotaxic radiotherapy technique that permits accurate delivery of highly localized dose to a small intracranial target has been developed. The technique facilitates precise integration of the diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including target localization, treatment planning, simulation, repetitive patient irradiation, and daily treatment ...

Stereotaxic Surgeries and In Vivo Techniques
The purpose of this chapter is to describe the rationale for and process of penetrating the brain in a living animal. Accessing the brain allows a scientist to measure the activity and neurochemistry of cells in vivo, as well as to manipulate their activity to determine effects on behavior. To gain access to an animal's brain, scientists must perform a

Simple technique for midline stereotaxic surgery in the rat
A simple technique is described for diverting the superior saggital sinus to allow midline implantation of vertically oriented electrodes or cannulae. This method avoids problems encountered following puncture of the sinus and minimizes cortical trauma.

Integration Techniques for Localisation during Stereotaxic Exploration of the Thalamus and Basal Ganglia [PDF]
One considerable problem presenting itself to the neurosurgeon using stereotaxis is the problem of accuracy in placement of his lesion.

Computer-Aided Localization Techniques for Stereotaxic Surgery
Two computer programs were written which localize coordinates of interest for stereotaxic procedures using the Leksell frame. The first program computes frame coordinates for a given point in a reference brain atlas. Landmarks used are the anterior and posterior commissures and the brain midline.

Techniques for improving stereotaxic accuracy in Macaca fascicularis
Sources of stereotaxic variability in long-tailed macaques (Macaca fascicularis) were examined by X-ray techniques. Accuracy in the vertical dimension can be improved significantly by measuring from the top of the brain rather than from the Frankfurt plane established by external bony landmarks.

A forebrain atlas and stereotaxic technique for the lizard, Anolis carolinensis
AbstractA forebrain atlas and stereotaxic neurosurgical techniques were developed for use in anatomical and behavioral experiments on the green anolis lizard (Anolis carolinensis). Green anoles are convenient and robust experimental subjects with a rich behavioral repertoire, the social components of which are partly under hormonal control. The ...

Techniques and problems in the stereotaxic placement of subcortical lesions in infant rats
Abstract Techniques used in the stereotaxic placement of subcortical lesions in infant rat pups of the Long-Evans strain are outlined. Co-ordinates and lesion parameters for septal, hippocampal, caudate, and amygdaloid lesions at seven days of age are presented. Housing and handling procedures which increase survival rates are discussed.

Visualisation of the subthalamic nucleus: a multiple sequential image fusion (MuSIF) technique for direct stereotaxic localisation and postoperative control [PDF]
A novel multiple, sequential image fusion (MuSIF) procedure merging stereotaxic CT with frameless magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is used since June 2000 to visualise and directly localise the subthalamic nucleus (STN) on T2 images. In 13 consecutive Parkinson's cases, intraoperative recording and stimulation verified bilateral electrode implantation ...
