Tactile Defensiveness and Stereotyped Behaviors
Abstract Objectives. This study explores the constructs of stereotyped behaviors (e.g., repetitive motor patterns, object manipulations, behavioral rigidities) and tactile defensiveness as relevant to occupational therapy theory and practice and attempts to test their purported relationships in children with developmental disabilities.

STEREOTYPIC BEHAVIORS IN BEARS
Taiwan Veterinary Journal, 2016Confined bears are deprived of natural stimulus, such as large roaming domains, active foraging and enriched habitats, making them vulnerable to develop stereotypic behaviors. Motivation drives and neuro-pathological imbalance are the causes. Various stereotypic behavior types have been reported, including oral, head and locomotory related behaviors ...

PHARMACOLOGY AND PHYSIOLOGY OF STEREOTYPED BEHAVIOR
Journal of Psychiatric Research, 1974Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the pharmacology and physiology of stereotyped behavior. Amphetamines apparently produce stereotyped behavior in all mammals, including man and therefore, it seems reasonable to assume that the stereotypy also in man is mediated by the dopamine in the brain.

Stereotypic behaviors in degenerative dementias
Journal of Neurology, 2012Stereotypies are simple or complex involuntary/unvoluntary behaviors, common in fronto-temporal dementia (FTD), but not studied in other types of degenerative dementias. The aim was to investigate stereotypy frequency and type in patients with FTD, Alzheimer's disease (AD), progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP) and Parkinson's disease with dementia (PDD)

Stereotypic Progressions in Psychotic Behavior
Neurotoxicity Research, 2010Dopamine receptor supersensitivity (DARSS) often is invoked as a mechanism possibly underlying disordered thought processes and agitation states in psychiatric disorders. This review is focused on identified means for producing DARSS and associating the role of other monoaminergic systems in modulating DARSS.

Stereotyped Behavior of the Infant Chimpanzee
Archives of General Psychiatry, 1963Over the past several years at the Yerkes Laboratories, the authors have engaged in the study of the effects of various kinds of early experience on the psychological, social, and physical development of the chimpanzee. During the course of the study, we have been particularly impressed by the stereotyped behaviors exhibited by chimpanzee infants ...

Stereotyped behavior in the ontogeny of rats
Bulletin of Experimental Biology and Medicine, 2007The ontogenetic development of stereotyped behavior induced by activation of dopamine D1 and D2 receptors with apomorphine was studied in rat pups (1st month of life) and adult rats (2nd-12th months of life). Stereotyped sniffing and licking movements developed not simultaneously under the influence of apomorphine.
