Friend, Not Foe: Lowered Tissue Reactivity to Long‐Term Polyimide Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The choice of optimal neural probe designs remains a major challenge in the field of neurotechnology. This study investigated the biocompatibility of several probe variations, including material, thickness, width, and implantation strategy. It highlights the clear advantage of soft polyimide probes over stiff silicon probes for better device ...

A neurobiological alternative to the perceptual reinforcement hypothesis of stereotyped behavior: a commentary on "Self-stimulatory behavior and perceptual reinforcement".

open access: yes, 1987
A perceptual reinforcement theory of stereotyped movements is advanced by Lovaas, Newsom, and Hickman (1987) in an effort to integrate a number of diverse observations about the origins and maintenance of this behavior. We, in turn, argue that the theory,

Table_3_Characterizing Features of Human Circulating B Cells Carrying CLL-Like Stereotyped Immunoglobulin Rearrangements.xlsx

open access: yes, 2022
Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL) is characterized by the accumulation of monoclonal CD5+ B cells with low surface immunoglobulins (IG). About 40% of CLL clones utilize quasi-identical B cell receptors, defined as stereotyped BCR.

A High‐Throughput Live Imaging Platform to Investigate Circuit‐Dependent Regulation of Circadian Rhythms in Brain Tissue

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Biological rhythms coordinate physiology, from genes to behavior. Study of circadian rhythms in brain tissue is constrained by limited throughput and spatial and temporal information quality. A new platform for high‐throughput, long‐term multiplexed fluorescent live imaging of circadian rhythms in brain slices is introduced.

Organoid Brain‐Machine‐Interface Devices for Central Nervous System Repair

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We envision organoid brain‐machine‐interface (Organoid‐BMI) devices as new biohybrid bidirectional communication pathways to connect the human CNS and the external world for personalized CNS repair and regeneration. ABSTRACT Central nervous system (CNS) repair and regeneration suffer from tremendous clinical challenges due to current limitations in ...

STEREOTYPIC BEHAVIOR AND PRODUCTIVITY OF SOWS [PDF]

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Animal Science, 1990
The behavior of 37 gestating sows in different parities was observed around day 85 of pregnancy. Seventeen sows exhibited stereotypic behavior for 54.9 ± 4.8% of the 8-h observation period. The total time the sows spent standing and sitting was correlated with age (rs = 0.43, P < 0.01) and was significantly different (P < 0.001) for sows which ...
