Development and validation of a predictive nomogram for the pregnancy rate after tubal anastomosis in women with tubal ligation

open access: yesLaparoscopic, Endoscopic and Robotic Surgery
Objective: Female sterilization is a common contraceptive method, but with changing family dynamics, an increasing number of women seek to restore fertility after tubal sterilization.

POSS‐PEG‐NHS and GSH Cocrosslink DPAV to Prepare Anticalcification Bioprosthetic Scaffold With Enhanced Reendothelization, Anti‐inflammation, and Anti‐ROS

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
POSS‐PEG‐NHS and GSH cocrosslinked DPAV to prepare a multifunctional anticalcification valve substitute. This modification enhances mechanical properties, hemocompatibility, and re‐endothelialization while promoting anti‐inflammatory M2 macrophage infiltration and reducing calcification.

The afterlife of birth control policies in Mexico: Questioning the normalization of sterilization among racialized (mestiza) low-income women

open access: yesGender
We analyze the normalization of tubal ligation in Mexico by examining both the institutional perspective of health professionals and the experiences of racialized mestiza women who opt for sterilization.

Biomimetic Vascular Scaffold with Seamless Electrospun Aligned Nanofiber Conduit and 3D‐Printed Coil Reinforcement

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
We introduce a new fabrication method that overcomes the current limitation of tubular gap electrospinning. We successfully fabricated a seamless hollow tube with fibers aligned along the longitudinal axis in diameters as small as 300 µm, and then reinforced it using 4‐axis 3D printing.

Post-partum, post-sterilization tubo-ovarian abscess caused by Fusobacterium necrophorum: a case report

open access: yesJournal of Medical Case Reports, 2012
Introduction Post-partum, post-sterilization tubo-ovarian abscess is a rare event. Fusobacterium necrophorum subspecies funduliforme, a normal flora found mainly in the oral cavity, appears to be the etiologic organism.

Placenta accreta after postpartum tubal sterilisation and Novasure® endometrial ablation

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, 2021
Although rare, pregnancy can still occur after both tubal sterilization and endometrial ablation. The resulting pregnancy is often complicated by ectopic pregnancy, miscarriage, and adherent placenta. Endometrial ablation is not a contraceptive.

A Modular Liver–Microbial Microfluidic Platform to Evaluate Therapeutic and Adverse Effects of Microbial Metabolites

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces a modular microfluidic platform that connects liver cells with live microbes to mimic key aspects of the gut–liver interaction in steatosis. Using this system, both microbial metabolites and live bacteria significantly reduced fat accumulation in liver cells, but live microbes triggered inflammation and broader metabolic changes ...

A Novel Perfused Full‐Thickness Human Skin Microphysiological System for Modeling Injury, Regeneration, Tumor Pathophysiology, and Therapeutics Development

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
What if human skin could remain fully alive and functional outside the body for weeks? A New Alternative Method (NAM) based on a vascularized full‐thickness skin microphysiological system achieves precisely this, preserving native vasculature, resident immunity, and metabolic activity for up to three weeks, while faithfully recapitulating radiation ...
