Upscaling irradiation protocols of Aedes albopictus pupae within an SIT program in Reunion Island

open access: yesScientific Reports
The implementation of the sterile insect technique against Aedes albopictus relies on many parameters, in particular on the success of the sterilization of males to be released into the target area in overflooding numbers to mate with wild females ...

Ultra‐Radiostable Covalent Conformationally Interlocked Networks Enabling a Universal Radiometal‐Labeling Platform for Cancer Radioembolization

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Conjugated poly(imide dioxime)‐based microspheres establish a radiometal coordination‐driven conformational interlocked network with ultra‐high radiostability. This platform enables low‐temperature, multi‐radionuclide labeling for SPECT/PET/MRI imaging and radionuclide therapy. Mechanistic insights from EXAFS and DFT reveal enhanced stability, while in

Bioburden and theoretical sterility dose calculation for radiation sterilization of surgical cotton and bandages.

open access: yesJPMA. The Journal of the Pakistan Medical Association, 1993
The initial bioburden, count of colony forming unit (CFU) was determined on the locally manufactured non-sterilized surgical cotton and bandages. In all 489 tests were conducted on 163 cotton samples and 246 tests on 82 bandage samples. The surgical cotton showed an average of 198 microbes with a maxima of 287 and minima 94 whereas bandages showed an ...

EphB1‐Mediated Transient Blood‐Brain Barrier Opening Facilitates a Ferritin‐Based Nanotherapeutic for Alzheimer's Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We constructed a brain‐targeted AFn‐DPZ nanodrug delivery system and identified EphB1 as its receptor on the blood‐brain barrier (BBB). This system facilitates drug transport across the BBB and thereby ameliorates cognitive impairment in Alzheimer's disease.

Hollow Cu2O Nanozymes Enhance Probiotic Therapy for Colitis via Redox Homeostasis and TXNIP/NLRP3 Inflammasome Inhibition

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Hollow cuprous oxide (H‐Cu2O) nanozymes feature enlarged catalytic surfaces for superior reactive oxygen species (ROS) scavenging. By efficiently neutralizing mucosal ROS, H‐Cu2O directly suppresses the TXNIP/NLRP3 inflammasome axis and restores intestinal epithelial barrier integrity.

Disrupting Helicobacter pylori Iron Homeostasis With Bismuth Nanodrug‐Mediated Nutritional Trap for Targeted Gastric Infection Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A “nutritional trap” strategy centered on disrupting bacterial iron homeostasis is proposed. The synthesized Bi‐TP@FU (TBF) can target Helicobacter pylori, interfere with the bacterial iron uptake and utilization processes to disrupt its iron homeostasis, induce bacterial death, and meanwhile preserve the balance of the intestinal flora.

Self‐Assembly of Antigenic Peptide Nanofibrils Templates the Growth of Silica Nanoparticles for Nanovaccines

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Antigenic peptides Aβ42 and E7 self‐assemble into nanofibrils; APTES and TEOS induce SiO2 NP formation on these fibrils to form SiO2@fibril nanovaccines, which activate BMDCs in vitro. In vivo, SiO2@Aβ42 fibril nanovaccines alleviate AD symptoms and clear Aβ42 plaques in APP/PS1 mice, and SiO2@E7 fibril nanovaccines inhibit tumor growth and promote ...

Physical structure changes of solid medium by steam explosion sterilization

open access: yes, 2016
Physical structure changes of solid medium were investigated to reveal effects of steam explosion sterilization on solid-state fermentation (SSF). Results indicated that steam explosion changed the structure of solid medium at both molecular and three ...

Harmonizing Rigidity and Flexibility: Embedding COF Quantum Dots Into Extracellular Matrix Gel as Carbon Monoxide Depot for Acoustically Triggered Time‐Programmable Anti‐Infective Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A rigid‑flexible integrated CO depot is engineered by embedding rigid COFQDs into a flexible ECM gel network. The rigid framework enables high‑capacity CO storage and sonodynamic bacterial killing, while the flexible ECM gel controls sustained CO release, collectively eradicating multidrug‑resistant infection and promoting scarless healing.
