Tuning the Morphological Properties of Granular Hydrogels to Control Lymphatic Capillary Formation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Tuning the morphological properties of granular hydrogels is essential to generate robust lymphatic capillary networks that express key lymphatic gene and protein markers. The study demonstrates that 3D in vitro lymphatic tube formation is controlled not by the mechanical properties of the gel, but by the pore size and topology (periodicity) of the gel

Evaporation‐Enhanced Redox Cycling for Rapid Detection of Attomolar SARS‐CoV‐2 Virions Using Nanolithography‐Free Electrochemical Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This study presents microfabricated electrochemical sensors for detecting ultralow viral particles counts through evaporation‐enhanced redox cycling (E2RC). To achieve sub‐micrometer gap in interdigitated microelectrodes, a scalable, nanolithography‐free fabrication method is developed.

International Capital Flows, Financial Stability and Growth [PDF]

open access: yes
The explosion and dramatic reversal of capital flows to emerging markets in the 1990s have ignited a heated debate, with many arguing that globalization has gone too far and that international capital markets have become extremely erratic.

Microfluidic Spinning of PEDOT:PSS Microfibers for Nerve Guidance Conduits

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This publication explores the fabrication of microfluidically spun PEDOT:PSS microfibers for conductive nerve guidance conduits (NGCs). It details the spinning process, fiber characterization, and biocompatibility assessment. The study highlights the fibers' mechanical and electrical properties, non‐cytotoxicity, and potential for nerve regeneration or

Investigating the Potential for Label‐Free Detection of Cell Apoptosis through Terahertz Nano‐Metasurfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates a label‐free optical method to monitor cells using a terahertz metasurface‐based biosensing platform. The obtained terahertz signal change for the cell‐contained nanoslots before and after external stimulus is analyzed in terms of transmittance and frequency shift, dynamically representing the cell apoptosis process.

Inflows of capital to developing countries in the 1990s [PDF]

open access: yes
Half a decade has passed since the resurgence of international capital flows to many developing countries. The recent surge in capital inflows was initially attributed to domestic developments, such as the sound policies and stronger economic performance

Resonant activation: a strategy against bacterial persistence

open access: yes, 2010
A bacterial colony may develop a small number of cells genetically identical to, but phenotypically different from other normally growing bacteria. These so-called persister cells keep themselves in a dormant state and thus are insensitive to antibiotic ...
