Jumping mechanisms in jumping plant lice (Hemiptera, Sternorrhyncha, Psyllidae) [PDF]
SummaryJumping mechanisms and performance were analysed in three species of psyllids (Hemiptera, Sternorrhyncha) that ranged from 2 to 4 mm in body length and from 0.7 to 2.8 mg in weight. Jumping was propelled by rapid movements of the short hind legs that were only 10-20% longer than the other legs and 61-77% of body length.
