Profile Likelihoods on ML-Steroids [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Profile likelihoods, for instance, describing global SMEFT analyses at the LHC are numerically expensive to construct and evaluate. Especially profiled likelihoods are notoriously unstable and noisy. We show how modern numerical tools, similar to neural importance sampling, lead to a huge numerical improvement and allow us to evaluate the complete ...

FABP4 as a Mediator of Lipid Metabolism and Pregnant Uterine Dysfunction in Obesity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Obesity during late pregnancy contributes to uterine smooth muscle dysfunction, but the underlying mechanisms are unclear. This study identifies fatty acid binding protein 4 (FABP4) as a key player in the process, mediating excessive fatty acid uptake, lipid accumulation, and mitochondrial dysfunction in myometrial cells. FABP4 could be a novel uterine

Cartilage‐Penetrating Framework Nucleic Acid Nanoparticles Ameliorate Osteoarthritis by Promoting Drug Delivery and Chondrocyte Uptake

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Based on the poor cartilage penetration of tFNA, a novel tFNA‐2WL with excellent cartilage permeability and perfect chondrocyte endocytosis properties is designed and fabricated. As a result, tFNA‐2WL has a nearly seven‐fold increase in the penetration depth into the cartilage, with the same excellent cell entry properties as tFNA.

Frontiers in Nondrug Treatment of Sarcopenia: A Review of Pathological Mechanisms and the Latest Treatment Strategies

open access: yesAGING MEDICINE, EarlyView.
This article mainly introduces the pathologic process of sarcopenia and the recent progress in diagnosis and treatment, especially the nondrug treatment. ABSTRACT Sarcopenia refers to the progressive decline and wasting of skeletal muscle function, typically linked to aging or as a secondary effect of various conditions, including systemic inflammation,

High levels of oxysterol sulfates in serum of patients with steroid sulfatase deficiency[S]

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2015
Steroid sulfatase (STS) deficiency is the underlying cause of the skin condition known as recessive X-linked ichthyosis (RXLI). RXLI patients show scales on their skin caused by high concentrations of cholesterol sulfate (CS), as they are not capable of ...
