Robotic Palpation for Spatiotemporal Arterial Pulse Quantification and Mapping Using Multilevel Microdome‐Based Soft Pressure Sensors

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
This study presents the development of multilevel pressure‐sensitive layers replicated from liquid‐metal‐based structures for optimizing soft pressure sensors in robotic palpation. This approach enhances sensitivity and range for subtle arterial displacement detection.

Digital Watermarking Method Based on STFT Histogram

open access: yes2013 Ninth International Conference on Intelligent Information Hiding and Multimedia Signal Processing, 2013
This paper presents a digital audio watermarking method. In the method, watermark has been represented by a form of the histogram for sound power level's distribution in time domain in certain frequency band(s). The relation of four numbers of selected bins in a histogram are changed by a rule of watermark bits assignment.

Area-Efficient Short-Time Fourier Transform Processor for Time–Frequency Analysis of Non-Stationary Signals

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
In this paper, we propose an area-efficient short-time Fourier transform (STFT) processor that can perform time–frequency analysis of non-stationary signals in real time, which is essential for voice or radar-signal processing systems.

Solving multiple windowed STFT phase retrieval problems in phase and amplitude respectively

open access: yesApplied Mathematics in Science and Engineering, 2022
We study the Phase Retrieval (PR) problem under the phaseless short-time Fourier transform (STFT) measurements. This paper proposes a novel algorithm named PAR to solve the STFT PR problem in phase and amplitude respectively with a milder retrieval ...

Pickin' up good vibrations: a systematic review of footfall detection and analysis in the realm of wildlife surveying

open access: yesWildlife Biology, EarlyView.
Exploration of new wildlife surveying methodologies that leverage advances in sensor technology and machine learning has led to tentative research into the application of seismology techniques. This, most commonly, involves the deployment of a footfall trap – a seismic sensor and data logger customised for wildlife footfall.

Efficient Masked Autoencoder for Birdsong Representation with Applications on Wild Bird Species Classification

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
Research on mosquito feeding preferences and the malaria parasites they transmit is essential for understanding the interactions between hosts, vectors, and parasites. In this study, vertebrate hosts were identified in 72 mosquitoes. Most blood meals (58.7%) came from birds, representing 25 species, while 40.0% came from mammals (13 species), and 1.3 ...
