Stresses in adhesively bonded joints: A closed form solution [PDF]
The plane strain of adhesively bonded structures which consist of two different orthotropic adherents is considered. Assuming that the thicknesses of the adherends are constant and are small in relation to the lateral dimensions of the bonded region, the

Segmental‐level molecular engineering of a supramolecular polyurethane elastomer integrates strain‐adaptive chains, soft elastic segments, and dynamic hydrogen bonding motifs. This design reconciles skin‐like softness with muscle‐level strength, offering a sustainable and high‐performance material platform for next‐generation artificial skin and soft ...

Composite fuselage technology (summary of year 2) [PDF]
The overall objective of this work is to identify and understand, via directed experimentation and analysis, the mechanisms which control the structural behavior of fuselages in their response to damage (resistance, tolerance, and arrest).

A data‐efficient artificial intelligence‐assisted framework, which integrates experimental data with machine learning, is developed for the design of bimodal networked dielectric elastomers (DEs) as advanced artificial muscles. It adopts neural networks to predict DEs’ mechanical properties and support vector machines to classify electromechanical ...

Application of genetic algorithms to the evaluation of the fundamental frequency of stiffened plates
In this paper, the analytical and numerical procedures for multi-stiffened plate free vibration analysis are presented. The plate and stiffeners are treated as an assembled plate and stiffening elements.

Scalable High‐Force Zipping Electrostatic Actuators
An electrostatic actuator architecture is presented that combines high energy density with forces and strokes suited for wearable soft robotics. By folding patterned thin films into a scalable honeycomb of zipping units, performance becomes tunable through series–parallel design, achieving over 40 N and 28 J/kg.

Design of anisotropic plates for improved damage tolerance [PDF]
An analytical study is presented showing the effects of the notch tip geometry on the location and direction of crack growth from an existing notch in a unidirectional fibrous composite modeled as a homogeneous, anisotropic, elastic material. Anisotropic

Lysyl oxidase crosslinking of type I collagen decreases neutrophil extravasation through an endothelium during the initial response to P. aeruginosa. This decrease in extravasation is likely due to the increase in VE‐cadherin expression between endothelial cells seeded on LOX‐crosslinked collagen hydrogels.
