Vibration of Stiffened Rectangular Plates
The Journal of the Royal Aeronautical Society, 1963The free flexural vibrations of rectangular plates with various boundary conditions have been considered by Warburton. The natural frequencies were calculated by the Rayleigh method, the mode assumed being the product of the characteristic beam functions for the given boundary conditions. Comparison with experimental results shows that the method gives

Large Deflection of Stiffened Plates
Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1958Abstract The problem of nonlinear deflection of orthogonally stiffened plates subjected to static lateral load is treated using the concept of equivalent orthotropic plates. Equations are derived which are the appropriate generalizations of von Karman’s equations for isotropic plates.

Buckling of Longitudinally Stiffened Plates
Aeronautical Quarterly, 1967SummaryThis paper investigates the effect of the torsional stiffness of the ribs on the buckling strength of stiffened plates compressed in the direction of the ribs. For the case of plates simply-supported on all sides, a closed form formula is derived for calculating the buckling load.

Vibration Characteristics of Stiffened Plates
Journal of Mechanical Engineering Science, 1960This paper describes methods of calculating natural frequencies of free flexural vibration of rectangular plates which have stiffeners parallel to one edge. An approximate frequency equation is derived for a clamped plate with closely spaced stiffeners by extending the Rayleigh method as applied by Warburton (1)† to rectangular isotropic plates.

Parametric instability of stiffened plates
2004Summary: The parametric instability behavior of a stiffened plate subjected to uniform in-plane edge loading is studied using the finite element analysis. The method of Hill's infinite determinants is applied to analyze the dynamic instability regions. Numerical results are presented to demonstrate the effects of various parameters, such as the aspect ...
