Effect of the Vehicle Aerodynamics Performance under Cross Wind Condition Caused by Stiffeners

open access: yes, 2011
New lightweight material has been applied in the vehicle manufacture of the raised speed and high speed train. In order to strength the intensity of the vehicle, some stiffeners were designed on the vehicle top.

Buckling Analysis of an AUV Pressure Vessel with Sliding Stiffeners

open access: yes, 2020
The structure of an autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV), usually composed of a cylindrical shell, may be exposed to high hydrostatic pressures where buckling collapse occurs before yield stress failure.

Flexible Pressure Sensor With Co‐Optimized Sensitivity and Linearity Based on Gradient Toroidal Microstructures

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A flexible piezoresistive pressure sensor with gradient toroidal CNT/PDMS microstructures is reported. The hierarchical geometry enables sequential electrode contact, achieving a sensitivity of 256.20 kPa−1 and linear response (R2 = 0.99) over 0–1000 kPa.

Static and dynamic analyses of stiffened folded laminate composite plate

open access: yesVietnam Journal of Mechanics, 2013
This paper presents some numerical results of bending and vibration analyses of an unstiffened and stiffened folded laminate composite plate using finite element method. The effects of fiber orientations, boundary conditions, stiffener conditions of the

Elimination of Necking and Aspect Ratio Dependence in Uniaxial Actuators by Continuous Fiber Reinforcement

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A novel carbon fiber reinforcement for dielectric elastomer actuators enhances actuation force while decoupling electromechanical performance from the actuator's aspect ratio. Unlike conventional fiber reinforcements, it enables a uniform planar stretch state along the entire actuator.

From Rigid to Soft Robotic Approaches for Neuroendoscopy

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Robotic assistance has had minimal impact on deep intraventricular surgeries, where small‐scale, precision, and reduced invasiveness can contribute to improved patient outcomes. Emerging technologies in rigid, soft, and hybrid robotics are reviewed to identify the most promising mechanisms for deep brain navigation in addition to an attempt to identify

Buckling behaviour of cold-formed steel beam C-lipped sections using Bambusa spinosa Roxb. (Thorny Bamboo) strips as stiffening elements

open access: yesAdvances in Bamboo Science
This study uses a series of four-point bending tests to investigate the structural performance of cold-formed steel beam sections, both with and without bamboo stiffeners.

Eccentric Compression Behavior of RCFST Columns with Web Perforated T-Shaped Stiffeners

open access: yesBuildings
Based on the previous axial compression tests by the authors, this study investigates the eccentric compression behavior of rectangular concrete-filled steel tubular (RCFST) columns with web-perforated T-shaped stiffeners through finite element analysis.
