Behavior of RBS Beams Reinforced by Stiffeners Subjected to Cyclic Loading

open access: yesJournal of Engineering, 2018
This paper presents a numerical study of reduced beam section (RBS) beams with vertical and horizontal stiffeners. For RBS beams, it is speculated that strength deterioration will be caused by lateral buckling and local buckling.

Optimization of compressed stiffened flanges in bridge box girder cross section

open access: yesGrađevinar, 2017
Due to bending, flanges of steel box girder cross sections act as compression plates and require stiffeners. Using stability evidence from EN 1993-1-5, a parametric study was performed for six different types of stiffeners.

Strength of Steel Shell Cylindrical Panels Reinforced with an ‎Orthogonal Grid of Stiffeners [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied and Computational Mechanics, 2022
The paper presents an approach to the strength analysis in steel cylindrical panels reinforced from the concave side with an orthogonal grid of stiffeners. A mathematical model of the Timoshenko (Mindlin – Reissner) type is used.

Application of superelements in static analysis of thin‐walled structures

open access: yesJournal of Civil Engineering and Management, 2004
A concept of a beam superelement is suggested as a new tool in the static analysis of structures made of thin‐walled members. This proposal seems to be especially attractive for treating the problems where the existing one‐dimensional models do not ...

Structural analysis of long arm excavator boom for optimization performance under maximum breakout condition [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Long Arm Excavators are widely used in the construction site for excavating deep holes or trenches. However, due to the often-severe work conditions, such as large lifting loads, poor ground conditions to sustain the machine’s self-weight, Long Arm ...

Behaviour of Concrete-Filled Double Skin Tubular Short Column with Plate Stiffeners Welded Intermittently under Axial Compression

open access: yesBuildings, 2022
This paper presents the experimental and finite element analyses of the behaviours of stub circular and square concrete-filled double steel tubular (CFDST) columns intermittently welded with plate stiffeners under axial compression.

Optimum buckling design of composite stiffened panels using ant colony algorithm [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Optimal design of laminated composite stiffened panels of symmetric and balanced layup with different number of T-shape stiffeners is investigated and presented. The stiffened panels are simply supported and subjected to uniform biaxial compressive load.

Dynamical analysis of multilayered reinforced composite cylindrical shells

open access: yesVietnam Journal of Mechanics, 2005
In the present paper the governing dynamical equations for multilayered reinforced composite cylindrical shells based on Kirchhoff-Love's theory and Lekhnitsky's smeared stiffeners technique are derived.

Arterial Stiffening [PDF]

open access: yesHypertension, 2010
Aortic and large artery stiffening, hallmarks of vascular aging,1 are predictive of cardiovascular events, particularly in subjects with hypertension and components of the metabolic syndrome.2,3⇓ One hypothesis is that stiffening is a consequence of the combined insult of risk factors on the vascular wall.3 However, cross-sectional studies show little ...

Effect of Horizontal Stiffeners on the Efficiency of Steel Beams in Resisting Bending and Torsional Moments: Finite Element Analysis

open access: yesBuildings
Steel beams with eccentric loads are subjected to combined bending and torsional moments that lead to lateral displacements, unwanted stresses at the top and bottom flanges, and global buckling along their length.
