Cavitation Induced by Turbulence in Stilling Basin
Journal of the Hydraulics Division, 1980It is shown by simple arguments that is stilling basins, intense turbulence of flows could produce conditions favorable to cavitation. A free hydraulic jump occurring in a stilling basin is one case in which this spontaneous cavitation happens, at last intermittently, if the Froude number of the incoming flow is very large.
