Relaxation dynamics in bio-colloidal cholesteric liquid crystals confined to cylindrical geometry
Relaxation of liquid crystals is crucial in a broad area, e.g. biomimicry and stimuli-responsive material design. Here Khadem et al explore distinct relaxations, reveal the corresponding physics and propose a novel method for estimating viscoelastic ...

Multi-Stimuli-Responsive Polymer/Inorganic Janus Composite Nanoparticles
Multi-stimuli-responsive Janus composite nanoparticles (JNPs) of poly(N-isopropylacrylamide)–Fe3O4–poly(2-(dimethylamino)ethyl methacrylate)) (PNIPAM–Fe3O4–PDMEAMA) are synthesized by sequential reversible addition–fragmentation chain-transfer ...

ABSTRACT Background Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia (HSP) comprises a group of rare genetic diseases characterized by length‐dependent axonal degeneration of the corticospinal tracts and dorsal columns, whose main clinical feature is spastic gait. Pathogenic variants in the SPG4 gene cause Spastic Paraplegia Type 4 (SPG4‐HSP), the most common form of HSP.

Boundary‐Dependent Sleep–Wake Dysregulation in Idiopathic Hypersomnia
ABSTRACT Objective Idiopathic hypersomnia (IH) presents with excessive daytime sleepiness (EDS) despite apparently preserved nocturnal sleep, challenging traditional models of hypersomnolence based on sleep loss or fragmentation. We aimed to test the hypothesis that EDS in IH reflects excessive stabilization of the sleep state, consistent with ...

We develop a data‐driven method to derive the mathematical expressions of the Flory–Huggins interaction parameter χ for the swelling behavior of temperature–responsive hydrogels. Starting from initial assumptions of χ, our workflow combines Bayesian optimization, Flory–Rehner theory, and symbolic regression to generate candidate χ expressions.

Stimuli-Responsive Hydrogels from Dynamic Network Interactions
Hydrogels are hydrated 3-dimensional networks of polymer chains. The polymer chains are connected by crosslinks, which may be covalent bonds or physical network junctions based on non-covalent intermolecular interactions.
