Thermal analysis of stirling cycle regenerators

open access: yes, 2020
Stirling cycle cryocoolers are used widely in military applications. The regenerator is the key element of Stirling cycle cryocoolers. It is known that performance of the regenerator directly affects the cryocooler performance. Therefore, any improvement on the regenerator will lead to a more efficient cryocooler.

Newly Discovered Active Faults in the Wairarapa Valley: Implications for Multi‐Fault Rupture and Kinematics in the Southern North Island, Aotearoa New Zealand

open access: yesNew Zealand Journal of Geology and Geophysics, Volume 69, Issue 1, March 2026.
Active fault locations and constraints on the timing and size of earthquakes are important for understanding and mitigating seismic hazard in Aotearoa New Zealand. However, historical and instrumental records are too short to provide these data on most earthquake‐generating faults. Light detection and ranging (lidar) data provide us with the ability to

The Changing Geographies of Ageing and Age Mixing Across Urban–Rural Areas in Scotland, 2011–2022

open access: yesPopulation, Space and Place, Volume 32, Issue 2, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Like other high‐income countries, Scotland is experiencing rapid population ageing, with evidence of spatial polarisation of age groups. This study uses the Scottish Censuses of 2011 and 2022 to understand patterns and trends in the geographies of ageing and age mixing.

The Breast Cancer Treatment Experience for a Breast Cancer Patient Living With Intellectual or Developmental Disabilities in Ontario, Canada: A Critical Realist Case Study

open access: yesBritish Journal of Learning Disabilities, Volume 54, Issue 1, Page 3-14, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Adult females with intellectual or developmental disabilities are more likely to die following a breast cancer diagnosis. Differences in access to cancer treatment may contribute to these survival differences. We explored how one woman with intellectual or developmental disabilities received guideline‐recommended breast cancer ...

Anaemic Streams: Iron and Essential Trace Metals Frequently Limit Primary Producer Biomass

open access: yesEcology Letters, Volume 29, Issue 3, March 2026.
Nutrient enrichment experiments in 41 streams across the eastern United States demonstrate that trace metals can limit the growth of primary producers. Trace metals are frequently co‐limiting with macronutrients and the availability of N and P in streams and watersheds are predictive of Fe and Zn limitation status.

A Determinant of Stirling Cycle Numbers Counts Unlabeled Acyclic Single-Source Automata

open access: yesDiscrete Mathematics & Theoretical Computer Science, 2008
We show that a determinant of Stirling cycle numbers counts unlabeled acyclic single-source automata. The proof involves a bijection from these automata to certain marked lattice paths and a sign-reversing involution to evaluate the determinant.
