Triple-Expansion Stirling-Cycle Refrigerator
SPIE Proceedings, 1971Among the advantages of the Stirling-cycle refrigerator are its compactness and the fact that it lends itself well to miniaturization. For instance, 0.5 W of refrigeration at 77°K has been obtained with a 25-W input and a total weight, including the drive motor and the heat exchanger, of 5 lb.

Miniature stirling cycle cooler
Cryogenics, 1987Abstract A miniature split Stirling cycle refrigerator, providing over 1 W of cooling power at 80 K is described. It is an unlubricated wear-free machine with long operating life, high reliability and high efficiency.

External combustion engine with Stirling open cycle
Proceedings of the 24th Intersociety Energy Conversion Engineering Conference, 2003An open-cycle engine approximating the Stirling cycle but retaining external combustion is being developed. The Stirling engine is being built on a motorcycle V-engine; however, the heat exchangers have been designed from scratch. Some thermodynamic considerations justifying the use of the open cycle are presented.
