The Stirling engine mechanism optimization

open access: yesPerspectives in Science, 2016
A special type of the gas engine with external combustion is called Stirling engine. The mechanism has two pistons with two volumes inside. The pistons are connected together through cooler, regenerator and warmer. The engine effectivity depends on the piston movement behaviour. The usual sinusoidal time curve leads to low effectiveness.

Stirling Engine Configuration Selection [PDF]

open access: yesEnergies, 2018
Unlike internal combustion engines, Stirling engines can be designed to work with many drive mechanisms based on the three primary configurations, alpha, beta and gamma. Hundreds of different combinations of configuration and mechanical drives have been proposed. Few succeed beyond prototypes.

Performance analysis of different arrangements of a new layout dish-Stirling system

open access: yesEnergy Reports, 2021
Cascade solar thermal systems provide a new direction for solar power generation. This paper focuses on the configuration optimization of a cascade solar system in which a Stirling engine array is applied. The array has multiple configurations.

Mathematical Modeling of the Stirling Engine

open access: yesProcedia Engineering, 2016
AbstractThe paper presents mathematical models which have been developed by the authors, and the results of which may be used to design an experimental refrigeration unit operating in the Stirling cycle. The systems engineered and based on Stirling cycle may be considered as an alternative to commonly employed internal combustion engines and Linde ...

Kinematic analysis of Stirling engine [PDF]

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2019
The submitted paper presents a kinematic analysis of Stirling engine by the vector method. Position equations are written for various points of the mechanism, and values of velocity and acceleration are obtained from derivation of the equations, depending on time. Equations in matrix form are solved by means of the Matlab program.

Underwater striling engine design with modified one-dimensional model

open access: yesInternational Journal of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, 2015
Stirling engines are regarded as an efficient and promising power system for underwater devices. Currently, many researches on one-dimensional model is used to evaluate thermodynamic performance of Stirling engine, but in which there are still some ...

Modeling a complete Stirling engine [PDF]

open access: yesEnergy, 2015
Abstract The assumptions of second order Stirling engine models were reviewed. An ideal adiabatic plus simple heat exchanger model was developed. The model included the external components such as the fan, combustor, and preheater. The external heat transfer to the engine heater was modeled using a log-mean-temperature difference for a constant tube ...

Study of a thermoacoustic-Stirling engine [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2008
During the last decade most efforts in thermoacoustics have been focused on the development and understanding of the traveling-wave thermoacoustic systems. These systems get much attention because they employ the inherently efficient Stirling cycle.
