Congruences for Stirling numbers and Eulerian numbers [PDF]

open access: yesActa Arithmetica, 2008
In this paper, we establish some Fleck-Weisman type and Davis-Sun type congruences for the Stirling numbers and the Eulerian numbers.

Regional Shopping Objectives in British Grocery Retail Transactions Using Segmented Topic Models

open access: yesApplied Stochastic Models in Business and Industry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Understanding the customer behaviours behind transactional data has high commercial value in the grocery retail industry. Customers generate millions of transactions every day, choosing and buying products to satisfy specific shopping needs.

On the power values of Stirling numbers [PDF]

open access: yesActa Arithmetica, 1991
Quoting the authors: ``The purpose of the present paper is to establish some effective finiteness results on the power values of Stirling numbers of first and second kind. The proofs are mainly based on the theory of linear forms in logarithms.'' A typical result is the following: Let \(S^ n_ k\) denote the Stirling number of the second kind, i.e.

One‐Step Electrodeposition of Iron Oxyhydroxide Onto 3D Porous Graphene Substrates for on Chip Asymmetric Micro‐Supercapacitors

open access: yesBatteries &Supercaps, Volume 8, Issue 3, March 2025.
A micro‐supercapacitor with electrodeposited iron oxyhydroxide (FeOOH) as the negative electrode and birnessite manganese oxide (MnO2) as the positive electrode achieves a 2 V working voltage, stable cycling in an aqueous electrolyte, and high energy and power densities of 21 μWh cm‐2 and 2.5 mW cm‐2 respectively.

Generalized Tepper’s Identity and Its Application

open access: yesMathematics, 2020
The aim of this paper is to study the Tepper identity, which is very important in number theory and combinatorial analysis. Using generating functions and compositions of generating functions, we derive many identities and relations associated with the ...

Block patterns in Stirling permutations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We introduce and study a new notion of patterns in Stirling and $k$-Stirling permutations, which we call block patterns. We prove a general result which allows us to compute generating functions for the occurrences of various block patterns in terms of ...

Combinatorics and Boson normal ordering: A gentle introduction

open access: yes, 2007
We discuss a general combinatorial framework for operator ordering problems by applying it to the normal ordering of the powers and exponential of the boson number operator.

Understanding teacher agency in the context of school‐based climate change and sustainability education: A case study of the experiences of teachers and school students in England

open access: yesBritish Educational Research Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Drawing on teacher agency as a conceptual framework, we explored the extent to which school teachers in secondary schools in England achieve agency in relation to teaching climate change and sustainability. This research provides a novel approach to understanding the relational and emergent qualities of teacher agency by bringing together ...

On Stirling numbers and Euler sums

open access: yesJournal of Computational and Applied Mathematics, 1997
In this paper, we propose another yet generalization of Stirling numbers of the first kind for noninteger values of their arguments. We discuss the analytic representations of Stirling numbers through harmonic numbers, the generalized hypergeometric function and the logarithmic beta integral.
