Confessions of a Poverty Researcher: My Journey Through the Foothills of Scholarship

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Social Issues, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper describes the key events, experiences and ideas that influenced the author's career as a poverty researcher. He describes how his early disillusion with economics was replaced by a spark of interest in social issues and how his migration from the UK to Australia in the mid‐1970s provided the impetus to begin what became a lifetime ...

Congruences for Stirling numbers and Eulerian numbers [PDF]

open access: yesActa Arithmetica, 2008
In this paper, we establish some Fleck-Weisman type and Davis-Sun type congruences for the Stirling numbers and the Eulerian numbers.

Study on Natural Gas Decarbonization Process Based on CO2 Desublimation Characteristics

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Natural gas decarbonization is a crucial processing step. In this study, the snow separation technology for removal of carbon dioxide in natural gas based on CO2 desublimation characteristics was introduced. The phase equilibrium calculation of CH4‐CO2 and N2‐CO2 system was carried out by using cubic equations of states (EOSs), and identified ...

The r-Stirling numbers

open access: yesDiscrete Mathematics, 1984
Let \(N(n,m,r)\) denote the number of permutations of \(\{1,\ldots,n\}\) with \(m\) cycles and such that the numbers \(1,\ldots,r\) occur in distinct cycles, and let \({\mathcal N}(n,m,r)\) denote the number of partitions of \(\{1,\ldots,n\}\) into \(m\) non-empty disjoint sets such that \(1,\ldots,r\) are in distinct subsets.

Ontogenetic changes and sexual dimorphism in the cranium and mandible of the Atlantic walrus (Odobenus rosmarus rosmarus L.)

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Walruses have been an important subsistence and cultural resource for humans and have been exploited for millennia across their distribution. This exploitation has contributed to severe declines in several populations and local extirpations.

Note on r-central Lah numbers and r-central Lah-Bell numbers

open access: yesAIMS Mathematics, 2022
The r-Lah numbers generalize the Lah numbers to the r-Stirling numbers in the same sense. The Stirling numbers and the central factorial numbers are one of the important tools in enumerative combinatorics. The r-Lah number counts the number of partitions

Regional Shopping Objectives in British Grocery Retail Transactions Using Segmented Topic Models

open access: yesApplied Stochastic Models in Business and Industry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Understanding the customer behaviours behind transactional data has high commercial value in the grocery retail industry. Customers generate millions of transactions every day, choosing and buying products to satisfy specific shopping needs.

One‐Step Electrodeposition of Iron Oxyhydroxide Onto 3D Porous Graphene Substrates for on Chip Asymmetric Micro‐Supercapacitors

open access: yesBatteries &Supercaps, Volume 8, Issue 3, March 2025.
A micro‐supercapacitor with electrodeposited iron oxyhydroxide (FeOOH) as the negative electrode and birnessite manganese oxide (MnO2) as the positive electrode achieves a 2 V working voltage, stable cycling in an aqueous electrolyte, and high energy and power densities of 21 μWh cm‐2 and 2.5 mW cm‐2 respectively.

Closed formulas for special bell polynomials by Stirling numbers and associate Stirling numbers

open access: yesPublications de l'Institut Mathematique, 2020
We derive two explicit formulas for two sequences of special values of the Bell polynomials of the second kind in terms of associate Stirling numbers of the second kind, give an explicit formula for associate Stirling numbers of the second kind in terms of the Stirling numbers of the second kind, and, consequently, present two explicit ...
