Boolean complexes for Ferrers graphs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In this paper we provide an explicit formula for calculating the boolean number of a Ferrers graph. By previous work of the last two authors, this determines the homotopy type of the boolean complex of the graph. Specializing to staircase shapes, we show

Invariant Measure and Universality of the 2D Yang–Mills Langevin Dynamic

open access: yesCommunications on Pure and Applied Mathematics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We prove that the Yang–Mills (YM) measure for the trivial principal bundle over the two‐dimensional torus, with any connected, compact structure group, is invariant for the associated renormalised Langevin dynamic. Our argument relies on a combination of regularity structures, lattice gauge‐fixing and Bourgain's method for invariant measures ...

Heat Load Mitigation Studies in the W7‐X Stellarator Experiment

open access: yesContributions to Plasma Physics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT During the experiments at the stellarator Wendelstein 7‐X (W7‐X) with fully water‐cooled plasma‐facing components (PFC), including carbon‐fiber composite (CFC) divertor targets with a thermal load capability of 10 MW/m2, high performance was achieved.

Asymptotic Estimates for Second Kind Generalized Stirling Numbers

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, 2013
Asymptotic formulas for the generalized Stirling numbers of the second kind with integer and real parameters are obtained and ranges of validity of the formulas are established.

The $t$-successive associated Stirling numbers, $t$-Fibonacci--Stirling numbers, and unimodality

open access: yesTURKISH JOURNAL OF MATHEMATICS, 2017
Summary: Using a combinatorial approach, we introduce the \(t\)-successive associated Stirling numbers, and we give the recurrence relation and the generating function. We also establish the unimodality of sequence \(\left\{\frac{n-2k}{k}\right\}_{k}\) lying over a ray of the Stirling triangle of the second kind. Some combinatorial identities are given.

Innovations for Stakeholder Engagement in Water Governance: A Systematic Literature Review From a Sustainability Transition Perspective

open access: yesEnvironmental Policy and Governance, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Sustainable and equitable governance of water resources is among the most pressing global challenges, emphasising the need for innovations towards transitions in the water sector. Innovations for stakeholder engagement can contribute to such transitions through public participation and cross‐sectoral collaboration.

Identities, inequalities for Boole-type polynomials: approach to generating functions and infinite series

open access: yesJournal of Inequalities and Applications, 2019
The main purpose and motivation of this work is to investigate and provide some new identities, inequalities and relations for combinatorial numbers and polynomials, and for Peters type polynomials with the help of their generating functions. The results

Appraising Policies Through Social Multi‐Criteria Evaluation: Lessons From a Systematic Review of Applications

open access: yesEuropean Policy Analysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In response to renewed interest in analytical tools that address complex policy problems and move beyond linear‐rational approaches in policy appraisal, Social Multi‐Criteria Evaluation (SMCE) integrates participatory approaches with multi‐criteria analysis (MCA), thereby incorporating specialised knowledge and diverse social values and ...
