ABSTRACT Expanding and aging populations, sustainability drivers and changing attitudes to the way we eat mean that there has been growing interest in non‐animal derived protein food sources. Given this shift, there has been an uprise in consumer demand and commercial innovation of meat analogues and alternative protein food sources. The question, with

Fungal guild interactions slow decomposition of boreal forest pine litter and humus
Summary Ericaceous understory shrubs and ericoid mycorrhizal fungal communities are ubiquitous in boreal forests, and their interactions with ectomycorrhizal and saprotrophic fungi may determine organic matter dynamics in forest soils. We followed decomposition of pine needle litter and mor‐layer humus over 3 yr in a factorial shrub removal‐ and pine ...

Speed of Convergence to Normality When Regressors Are Nonstationary
ABSTRACT Stochastic and deterministic trends always coexist in data generating processes, which causes the nonstationarity and non‐standard distributions of statistics used in inference. It is known that the presence of the deterministic trend leads to asymptotic normality of the t‐statistics.

ABSTRACT Existing research offers little insight into how governance networks can maintain their legitimacy during institutional disruption. Through an in‐depth case study of a network of third sector organizations in Scotland that worked to deliver government funds and support during the COVID‐19 pandemic to social enterprises and charities, this ...

Summary Ketocarotenoids, including astaxanthin, are red lipophilic pigments derived from the oxygenation of β‐carotene ionone rings. These carotenoids have exceptional antioxidant capacity and high commercial value as natural pigments, especially for aquaculture feedstocks to confer red flesh colour to salmon and shrimp.

Revisiting the Evolution and Function of NIP2 Paralogues in the Rhynchosporium Spp. Complex
A new long‐read assembly of Rhynchosporium commune reveals ancestral duplication of the Necrosis‐Inducing Protein 2 effector family, which are upregulated during infection but do not cause necrosis on barley. ABSTRACT The fungus Rhynchosporium commune, the causal agent of barley scald disease, contains a paralogous effector gene family called Necrosis ...
