Application of Raman and Photoluminescence Spectroscopy to MgO‐C Refractories

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Visible to near infrared luminescence of MgO is studied on MgO‐C bricks and nominally pure MgO powder, with focus on two similar sharp high‐intensity signals, at 699 and 871 nm, each surrounded by symmetrical sidebands. The nature of these sidebands is investigated by temperature‐dependent spectroscopic measurements, confirming phonon involvement by ...

Strut-and-tie model and its applications in reinforced concrete deep beams: A comprehensive review

open access: yesCase Studies in Construction Materials, 2023
Strut-and-tie model (STM), with its truss analogy, is yet a powerful tool for analyzing and designing complex prestressed and reinforced concrete structures.

Theory of high-resolution tunneling spin transport on a magnetic skyrmion

open access: yes, 2018
Tunneling spin transport characteristics of a magnetic skyrmion are described theoretically in magnetic scanning tunneling microscopy (STM). The spin-polarized charge current in STM (SP-STM) and tunneling spin transport vector quantities, the ...

EFFECTS OF THE STM TIP ON ADSORBATE IMAGE [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
Scanning tunnelling microscopy provides atomic scale information about surface topography and electronic structure. However, the way the tip affects the STM image cannot always be neglected. We present a theoretical study of the effect of the non-uniform

Interaction of Ladle Slag With Varying SiO2 Content and Recyclate‐Based MgO–C Refractories

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Ladle slags (CaO/Al2O3 = 1) with 1–20 wt% SiO2 were investigated in contact with industrial MgO–C refractories fabricated from fresh magnesia and 50 wt% recyclate. The sessile drop method at 1600°C reveals intensive gas formation, delayed slag infiltration in recyclate‐based samples, and, under high‐SiO2 slag, formation of a dense MgAl2O4‐rich ...

Exploring the perspectives of International Nongovernmental Organizations (INGOs) on the use of program evaluation and impact assessment in their work

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Nonprofit and Social Economy Research, 2013
In the twenty-first century, the call for International Non-governmental Organizations (INGOs) to demonstrate their effectiveness has become popularized.

Impact of Sustainable Binders Based on Lignin and Collagen on the Volume Stability and Mechanical Properties of MgO‐C Refractories with MgO‐C Recyclates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Collagen hydrolysate is evaluated as a sustainable binder for MgO‐C refractories. Its thermally induced cross‐linking and gas release lead to expansion and cracking in large bricks, but tailored batches with lignin, recyclates, or fine graphite improve the gas release while thermal treatment and stability.

Digitaalisuus ja asiakaslähtöisyys sosiaali- ja terveydenhuollossa – kansalaisen omat tiedot hyötykäyttöön

open access: yesFinnish Journal of eHealth and eWelfare, 2015
Samalla Suomen

Short-Term Memory for Serial Order Moderates Aspects of Language Acquisition in Children With Developmental Language Disorder: Findings From the HelSLI Study

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2021
Previous studies of verbal short-term memory (STM) indicate that STM for serial order may be linked to language development and developmental language disorder (DLD).
