Emerging Memory and Device Technologies for Hardware‐Accelerated Model Training and Inference

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
This review investigates the suitability of various emerging memory technologies as compute‐in‐memory hardware for artificial intelligence (AI) applications. Distinct requirements for training‐ and inference‐centric computing are discussed, spanning device physics, materials, and system integration.

Stochastic actor-oriented models for the co-evolution of networks and individual outcomes

open access: yes
Stochastic actor-oriented models (SAOMs) originated as models to explain network evolution over time. They have been extended in several directions. This chapter focuses on the extension of SAOMs for analyzing the co-evolution of networks and individual outcomes, such as behaviours, attitudes, and activities.

2D Materials Empowered Radar Absorbing Materials: A Review

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
Recent progress in 2D materials empowered radar absorbing materials (RAMs) is reviewed, highlighting four key structural design strategies that enhance electromagnetic wave absorption. Porous structures, heterogeneous interfaces, printed metamaterials, and tunable metasurfaces are compared in terms of their governing physics, fabrication complexity ...

Estimation of stochastic actor-oriented models for the evolution of networks by generalized method of moments.

open access: yesJournal de la Société Française de Statistique, 2015
The stochastic actor-oriented model (Snijders, Sociological Methodology, 2001) models the evolution of networks over time, given panel data in a fixed group of actors, where at each panel wave the network between these actors (a digraph structure) as well as attribute variables for these actors are observed.

On the Role of Preprocessing and Memristor Dynamics in Reservoir Computing for Image Classification

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Reservoir computing (RC) is an emerging recurrent neural network architecture that has attracted growing attention for its low training cost and modest hardware requirements. Memristor‐based circuits are particularly promising for RC, as their intrinsic dynamics can reduce network size and parameter overhead in tasks such as time‐series ...

Regulation of Crystallization Kinetics via Zwitterionic Additive for Efficient and Operationally Stable Formamidinium Perovskite Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces a zwitterionic additive, Cl‐PPS, to regulate crystallization kinetics and passivate defects in formamidinium‐based perovskite solar cells. Cl‐PPS promotes direct α‐phase formation, minimizes necessary MACl loading, and induces highly crystalline, vertically oriented grains.

Cost Pass‐Through in Crisis: Evidence From the German Malt‐Beer Supply Chain

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
Abstract Global agri‐food supply chains are increasingly exposed to geopolitical shocks, climate volatility, and market consolidation, factors that disrupt traditional price relationships and reshape market power dynamics. Nowhere is this more visible than in the brewing sector, where agricultural raw materials meet complex industrial processing and ...

Effects of Outsourced Agricultural Extension Services on the Technical Efficiency and Financial Returns of Soybean Farms in Northern Cameroon

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In the agricultural landscape of most developing countries, the last decade has witnessed the expansion of outsourced agricultural extension services. Private firms and nongovernmental organizations focused on delivering agricultural extension and advisory services to farmers have emerged.

Modeling the separation of water‐in‐oil emulsions in continuously fed gravity settlers using millifluidic experiments

open access: yesAIChE Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Emulsion separation remains a persistent challenge in chemical and process industries due to the metastable nature of dispersed droplets. In gravity separators, the overall separation rate is governed by the formation of a densely packed zone (DPZ) of deforming and coalescing droplets that mediates between the dispersed and continuous phases ...

Envisaging the Unobserved: a Stochastic Actor-Oriented Model for Systems of Overlapping Subgroups

open access: yes
This paper presents a novel statistical framework for modeling cohesive subgroups in cross-sectional network data, adhering to prior ideas about the mean and variance of the number of actors per subgroup and subgroups per actor. Subgroups emerge from actors' membership decisions, with cohesion driven by their preference to co-member with network ...
