Development of a software platform for bridge modal and damage identification based on ambient excitation

open access: yesHigh-Speed Railway, 2023
Modal and damage identification based on ambient excitation can greatly improve the efficiency of high-speed railway bridge vibration detection. This paper first describes the basic principles of stochastic subspace identification, peak-picking, and ...

Parallel stochastic dynamic programming: finite element methods

open access: yesLinear Algebra and its Applications, 1992
A multidimensional Markov dynamical system with continuous time is considered. The system includes a jump Poisson process and Gaussian motion as well as nonlinearities. A performance criterion of the system is introduced. It includes instantaneous cost and terminal cost functions.

A nonlinear stochastic finite element method for solving elastoplastic problems with uncertainties [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
This article presents an efficient nonlinear stochastic finite element method to solve stochastic elastoplastic problems. Similar to deterministic elastoplastic problems, we describe history-dependent stochastic elastoplastic behavior utilizing a series ...

Vibrations And Deformations Of Moderately Thick Plates In Stochastic Finite Element Method

open access: yesTransactions of the VŠB: Technical University of Ostrava, Civil Engineering Series, 2015
The paper deals with some chosen aspects of stochastic dynamical analysis of moderately thick plates. The discretization of the governing equations is described by the finite element method.

Galerkin Finite Element Approximation of a Stochastic Semilinear Fractional Wave Equation Driven by Fractionally Integrated Additive Noise

open access: yesFoundations, 2023
We investigate the application of the Galerkin finite element method to approximate a stochastic semilinear space–time fractional wave equation. The equation is driven by integrated additive noise, and the time fractional order α∈(1,2).

Coupled Finite Volume and Finite Element Method Analysis of a Complex Large-Span Roof Structure [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The main goal of this paper is to present coupled Computational Fluid Dynamics and structural analysis for the precise determination of wind impact on internal forces and deformations of structural elements of a longspan roof structure. The Finite Volume

Inverse Identification of Energy‐Dependent Laser Absorptivity in NiTi Laser Powder‐Bed Fusion via Calibrated Melt Pool Simulation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A combined experimental–computational framework identifies energy‐dependent laser absorptivity for NiTi in laser powder‐bed fusion, applicable to conduction and transition modes. Single‐track experiments and thermofluid smoothed particle hydrodynamics simulations are coupled through inverse analysis of melt pool geometry.

Numerical Simulation of Some Steel Structural Elements with Uncertain Initial Porosity

open access: yesMetals, 2021
The main research purpose of this work was to study the elasto-plastic responses of some fundamental steel structural elements exhibiting stochastic volumetric microvoids. The constitutive model of the steel material was consistent with the deterministic

Experimental Characterization of Mycelium‐Based Composites Under Multiple Loading Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines the mechanical response of mycelium‐based composites under compression, shear, and tension using mechanical testing and imaging methods. The comparison between unpressed and hot‐pressed specimens shows that hot pressing is associated with higher compression and shear stiffnesses.
