Skew-Normality in Stochastic Frontier Analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Skewness is an intrinsic characteristic in Stochastic Frontier Analysis (SFA), where it is used as a measure of technical inefficiency. We discuss the use of skew normality in SFA. We consider stochastic frontier analysis in the common setting Normal + Truncated Normal with uncorrelated errors, as well as the case with correlated errors.

Panel Stochastic Frontier Analysis with Dependent Error Terms

open access: yesInternational Econometric Review, 2021
In presence of panel data, technical efficiency is used to compare the performances of Decision-Making Units (DMUs). The novelty of this paper is the consideration of the dependence between the two error terms in the case of panel data and the introduction of time effect models in the Stochastic Frontier Analysis (SFA).

Investigation of wheat efficiency and productivity development in Slovakia

open access: yesAgricultural Economics (AGRICECON), 2006
This study has focused on two main tasks: verifying the suitability of using stochastic frontier analysis on a transforming sector, and providing empirical evidence to explain the technical efficiency structure among farms in the time period 2000-2004 ...

The Effect of Employing Temporary Workers on Efficiency: Evidence From a Meta-Frontier Analysis

open access: yesSAGE Open, 2021
This study examines the impact of employing temporary workers on technical efficiency (TE) by employing stochastic frontier analysis (SFA) and meta-frontier analysis (MFA).

Effects of Agricultural Cooperative Society on Farmers’ Technical Efficiency: Evidence from Stochastic Frontier Analysis

open access: yesSustainability, 2020
The impact of agricultural cooperatives on apple farmers’ technical efficiency (TE) in China was examined. The cooperatives were divided into two groups: a collective marketing group for farmers and an equivalent non-marketing group that did not provide ...

Spectrally Tunable 2D Material‐Based Infrared Photodetectors for Intelligent Optoelectronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Intelligent optoelectronics through spectral engineering of 2D material‐based infrared photodetectors. Abstract The evolution of intelligent optoelectronic systems is driven by artificial intelligence (AI). However, their practical realization hinges on the ability to dynamically capture and process optical signals across a broad infrared (IR) spectrum.

Living Liquid Metal Composites Embedded with Electrogenic Endospores for Next‐Generation Bioelectronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A new class of living liquid metal composites is introduced, embedding Bacillus subtilis endospores into eutectic gallium–indium (EGaIn). The spores enhance droplet coalescence, strengthen interfacial conductivity, and provide on‐demand electrogenic functionality after germination. The composites exhibit high conductivity, self‐healing, patternability,
