A Laplace stochastic frontier model [PDF]
We propose a Laplace stochastic frontier model as an alternative to the traditional model with normal errors. An interesting feature of the Laplace model is that the distribution of inefficiency conditional on the composed error is constant for positive values of the composed error, but varies for negative values.

Technical efficiency of health-care systems in selected middle-income countries: an empirical investigation [PDF]
Purpose – This paper aims to evaluate the technical efficiency of the health-care systems in 21 selected middle-income countries during the period (2000–2017) and determine the source of inefficiency whether it is transient (short run) or persistent ...

Stochastic Frontier Models [PDF]
The stochastic frontier model was first proposed in the context of production function estimation to account for the effect of technical inefficiency. The inefficiency causes actual output to fall below the potential level (that is, the production frontier) and also raises production cost above the minimum level (that is, the cost frontier).

By using a stochastic frontier framework, the mutual effect of input use on production risk and inefficiency is investigated. Disentangling this mutual effect proves important for empirical reasons, at least when applied to west Tennessee cotton systems ...

The inter-temporal relationship between risk, capital and efficiency: Evidences from Iranian Banks [PDF]
The increase in concentration in the banking sector, along with the problems of the recent financial and economic crises, has shown the importance of banking regulations against the high risk caused by the imbalance in the banks' balance sheets and one ...
